I am an experienced music teacher with over 20 years’ playing and performance experience. My specialties are in trumpet and electric bass, with additional experience teaching all brass instruments and beginning guitar. Many of my students are not only successful in their bands but in regional honor bands and Solo and Ensemble competitions as well.
I believe in tailoring each lesson to each student's individual abilities and learning methods. For students in school bands, I try to provide lessons that augment and complement what they learn in band class, focusing on areas of performance that may not receive attention in a group setting. For all my students, regardless of level or instrument, I help them learn music that they want to learn, while making sure they get the fundamental training that they need. I encourage and assist my students in finding opportunities to perform in solo performances and with other groups. I also pride myself in creating an environment where the students are comfortable asking questions to help improve their playing.

All my lessons are very personalized based on the student's interests, strengths, and weakness. David was perfect for my son. Patient, flexible and very talented. We will be using him again in the future!
David was very friendly and patient.
My son really enjoyed his trumpet lesson with David. A very thorough instructor.
David is awesome! He immediately put us both at ease and was so patient and encouraging with my son-- who has no experience with playing music. When we left my son felt proud of what he had learned. It was a great experience!
After just one lesson, my son was even more interested in playing his trumpet. He went home and practiced everything David taught him. David gave him some tips on making the sounds flow more naturally.
The best instructor I have ever had. He worked through all of the stuff I had trouble with, and is very funny.
David taught my daughter when she first decided to play the trombone in middle school band. It takes a special person to work with a moderately motivated, quiet 12 year old girl. He was patient, providing her with plenty of skills to achieve 1st chair without pushing too hard, or the wrong way. However, without his guidance, she would never have attempted to try out for mid-state. He urged her to play music she liked, but also made sure she was exposed to jazz, improv and other styles. He accommodated our ever changing schedule, and probably hid frustration well when she forgot her instrument or didn't practice. We couldn't have asked for a better teacher!+ Read More
