Dave is available for clawhammer (frailing) banjo lessons. He has been playing and teaching banjo & guitar for over 10 years and has a passion for helping new players start out - so he prefers to teach beginner to intermediate experience levels.
Dave's method of teaching aims to improve the following areas: dexterity, ear-training, memorization, improvisation, musical theory, and ability to play with others. First creating a solid base, then helping you find your musical voice and style.
His goal as a teacher is to provide an environment where a student feels comfortable learning to experiment in music and take musical risks.
Artists and genres that Dave has experience with range from: Old Crow Medicine Show, Trampled by Turtles, Steeldrivers, Mumford and Sons, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, and more.
Dave has a BA from Rutgers University and is constantly continuing his education with music theory and banjo through private instruction and performance.
