My wife, Emmanuelle, and I (David) have a combined teaching experience of more than 40 years. We are both available and will either teach separately or in tandem depending on schedule and need. Emmanuelle is an actor and musical theater performer and was on the recent Broadway tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Wizard of Oz. I am a director and playwright having recently won first prize at the New York New Works Festival.

I had the pleasure of working with David and Emmanuelle in middle school when they helped out with our production of Le Bourgeois gentilhomme. They helped keep the class focused on the work while also having immense fun. They were clearly passionate about their work and their enthusiasm was infectious. Theatre has since become a big part of my life and I am very grateful to have had David and Emmanuelle's guidance in my early years.

David and Emmanuelle were my first theatre teachers and provided an exceptional foundation to help me get where I am today. They taught not only the skills of acting, but also helped me gain my own self-confidence and strengthen my public speaking skills. David and Emmanuelle are committed and passionate teachers that inspire and support all the students that the work with. I credit them with helping spark my own passion when I was younger and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in acting!

David and Emmanuelle provided me with 2 unbelievable years of acting and performance coaching but more importantly equipped me with life skills that, 10 years later, have not only gotten me to where I am today, but have also provided me with a strong foundation in public speaking and interpersonal communication. 

In leading our class through all aspects needed to put on a quality Shakspearean production the two not only taught us the skills necessary in creating an efficient and positive group dynamic, but also worked meticulously with each of us as individuals to help us build personal confidence and overcome any individual barriers we might have.

David Hersh was my first acting coach, and although it has been a few years since I have worked with him, I carry the lessons with me. He is a wonderful teacher because he is as engaging and energetic as he is talented. When I started working with him I was a shy pre-teen who smiled a lot and spoke little. David's love for storytelling, stage combat and all things theatre re-ignited my imagination. Under his guidance my confidence grew, and I would not be the actor I am today, probably even the person who I am today without having been taught by David. 

With Emmanuelle I took a few dance/acting workshops. She has a very positive and constructive energy, making a space where students feel comfortable to take those artistic risks, and put everything they have out on the table. In her workshops she taught us by example how to commit to every movement, and how to stay in character while still focusing on the movement.

David and Emmanuelle throw their whole heart into everything that they do; this makes them inspirational teachers and mesmerizing actors. They are generous with their time and extremely encouraging. However, these two are not afraid to challenge you, and it is because of this that under their direction I grew so much as an actor. David and Emmanuelle truly are an inspiring, talented and commited pair of teachers.

David and Emmanuelle were my first theatre teachers when I was 10 and I continued taking lessons with them for years after. They were without a doubt the best theater teachers I've ever had. They have an extremely positive and encouraging teaching style, and that along with their immense talent inspired a life long love of theater, and a really strong foundation to build my acting career on. I actually managed to get my first professional role when I was 12 thanks to their coaching.

David and Emmanuelle are extremely inspiring and joyful people, and I definitely wouldn't be the same person today if not for them.

David and Emmanuelle are absolutely fantastic! I took musical theatre classes with them for several years as a teenager, and they helped me to grow as an actor and as a person. They are both so passionate and knowledgeable about theatre. Taking classes with David and Emmanuelle is an inspiring, educational and incredibly fun experience. I was so lucky to have the chance to learn from them.

David was an important early influence in my career in cultural advocacy and communications. I took his acting classes as a young adult. He he was always very thoughtful and passionate about the work - providing a comfortable space in which to explore characters and stories. He guided us as we planned and executed our "season" - providing just enough support for us to make the important decisions. And, most importantly, we had a lot of fun. I went on to study theatre in university and my passion for culture led to my current work. Thanks, David!!

As a young person, I had the pleasure of being taught by both Emmanuelle and David in acting, singing, dance, improv, creation and performance, to name a few.  This training spanned many years of my youth and was the ideal platform from which to launch my artistic career.  I am now the Co-Artistic Director of Bad Hats Theatre, a multi Dora Award winning company based in Toronto producing new, multidisciplinary works for the stage.  I also pursue my own freelance work as a writer, composer, director and actor with great success.  The skills I gained in my time with these two educators have been invaluable in practicing my craft with integrity, humility and hunger.  In my classes I always felt safe, understood, celebrated and cared for.  I felt I was consistently reminded that there was no ceiling on what I might achieve as an artist and vehemently encouraged to push beyond my own expectations.  Not only are these two instructors highly skilled in multiple disciplines, their ability to help artists find what makes them unique is an immeasurable talent, one I consider vital to the education of any performer, young or old.  Above all, Emmanuelle and David are agents for positivity and their fierce passion for promoting self confidence and good humour results in a hard working, happy students.  They know exactly what they're doing and they do it with utter grace and care.  I owe them so much of what makes my life as an artist a bright one. Frankly, you would be foolish not to hire them.

My time as David’s student is eternally etched in my mind. He taught/directed me over five years in my teenage years. He gave me the confidence I needed yet challenged my boundaries, shaping my skills and development as an actor and person. While I did not pursue a professional career in acting, I am now a lawyer. My theatre skills are proving invaluable in the courtroom.

I highly recommend David as an acting instructor. He knows his stuff and has a real heart of gold.

Working with David was one of the best things I had the privilege of experiencing as a child/teen. I learned the fundamentals of theatre (acting and writing) in an atmosphere that was uplifting and supportive. The energy he brought to every class was positive and contagious. I would 100% recommend his classes to anyone who has an interest in theatre or just looking for a positive way to spend their time. David is a wonderful, patient, and lively instructor that makes it difficult to not come out of your shell! He helped guide my middle school class through The Tempest, no easy feat, and made sure we enjoyed ourselves along the way. Since then I've attended Canterbury, an art school, and was part of the vocal program. Auditions are always nerve-racking because you may be afraid of looking foolish, but David always supported us, and even encouraged a little foolishness!
I would fully recommend David as an instructor for anyone seeking lessons.

I had a lot of fun working with David. In grade 7 he helped us preform Peter Pan and in grade 8, The Three Muscuteers. I always loved having drama class because we would always have so much fun playing games and preparing for the big show. I was always shy and didn’t like to be infront of crowds; but David made it possible for me to come out of my shell and portray my character infront of an audience. He was an amazing teacher and an amazing person who always brought a smile to my face. His caring nature and spontaneous energy kept everyone going. If I were to preform another show, I would hope to be taught by him again. :)

When I immigrated from the United Kingdom to Canada in 2010, I immediately found myself extremely lost and helplessly lonely. Within my first few days in Canada, I met David and Emmanuelle at a local theatre school. From the moment I met them, I knew that they were both something extremely special. I was welcomed into the company with open arms and immediately felt as though I had a family, led by both David and Emmanuelle.

I remember feeling completely and utterly inspired by David and Emmanuelle at every single rehearsal I attended. I had never experienced such creativity and raw talent up until that point in my life. Their methods of approaching text, and just the way they went about creating art was so interesting and inspiring to watch. 

Not only did I gain a social life and a wonderful fresh start through finding David and Emmanuelle, I learned new skills and techniques within my art. Something that I still draw from and use to this day. I whole-heartedly believe that David and Emmanuelle are a huge reason as to why I followed my dreams to New York City in 2014. 

Aside from being two extremely successful artists, David and Emmanuelle are two of the nicest people you will ever encounter in this life. I would absolutely , 100% take classes with them again in the future, if given the opportunity.

David was a wonderful acting coach to me while I was involved in musical theatre. I improved immensely through his teaching and felt that I matured as an artist. I always felt excited to work with him because he is a smart, supportive, funny and warm hearted teacher and person. I would recommend David to anyone as an acting coach and will always look back at my classes with him as a turning point where I grew in confidence as a person and actor!
