I have been working with students of all ages for the past six years as a private and group lesson instructor, bandleader and clinician. At a summer camp in New York I would regularly have kids from other sections sitting in on my classes because of the creative and exciting learning environment that I create. As a graduate of Berklee College of Music I have experienced every genre and teaching method. As a result I can shape my curriculum to the student's personal interests and preferred learning style. During lessons I take a solid foundation of music theory and technical practice and place it in context to modern musical examples, allowing students to understand the material on their own terms. I am patient, animated and I love what I do! *** Lesson Details *** I am a laid back teacher and like to keep my lesson plan open-ended and fun. I combine different styles and resources in my lessons to make each one stimulating and memorable. I consider proper posture and warm up routines to be very important and like to start each lesson of with a few relaxing stretches. Some of the topics I cover are: - Chord structures - Improvisation - Rhythm - Stage preparation - Music theory - Songwriting - Ear training Because I am in touch with my own learning process I am able to pinpoint each student's needs and create material that helps them overcome obstacles quicker and easier than they thought possible.
