Teaches students:
Ages 8+

Teaching since:
January 1987

I have been teaching privately since 1987 and am available to teach at my home studio or your home. I have helped students achieve first chair positions in school band, pass college entrance auditions, become professional musicians, and become successful private instructors.

I received my training at Oral Roberts University from 1980-1985 where I received a degree in Music Composition and worked on my Master's degree in Woodwind Doubling at Azusa Pacific University from 2008-2011.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Della Reese, Johnny Mathis, Vicki Carr, Andre Crouch, as well as played and written for cartoons such as "Ren and Stimpy", "Angry Beavers", "Jimmy Neutron", and various children's projects for Disney and Sesame Street.

As an expert in my field, I look forward to helping new students achieve their goals.

I did my homework, as Dave asked, and within 15 minutes of practicing, almost all the keys/notes/finger placement came right back! Like a lightbulb. Thank you, Dave! I'm so excited to be playing again!

Dave is an excellent music instructor who can not only show you the basics of playing the saxophone, flute and clarinet he can demonstrate it. He's an excellent jazz, smooth jazz, funk and blues musician and soloist. He's got an outstanding sound on the saxophones and along with his knowledge of music theory he can guide you into developing you own musical voice.

I am a life member of Local 47 and have performed with great musicians for decades. I can tell anybody that Dave is one of the best, finest woodwind players on this planet. I personally know students of Dave who proudly praise and acknowledge how much Dave has helped them. I have been performing with Dave for quite awhile now, and he never ceases to amaze me with his virtuosity. I very highly and strongly recommend Dave as a very highly qualified teacher!

Dave is honestly the best woodwind instrumentalist that I know. His experience far outweighs most musicians. Although he emphasizes technique, fundamentals and repetition, Dave's main objective is simple: teach music. Any musician would be lucky to study with him.
