    About Danny B.

I grew up in New Braunfels, TX and grew to love music at an early age, first picking up the guitar at age twelve. I went to Colorado Christian University where I studied jazz and classical guitar under renowned guitarist, Danny Masters, and graduated 2010 with honors and returned to the New Braunfels area where I have been teaching guitar and bass and has been active in the music scene from San Antonio to Austin, playing in the jazz club circuit. My debut jazz album was released to much acclaim in 2012. I then pursued a Master of Music degree in Composition, graduating with honors in 2013. I am also active as a session musician in a wide variety of genres, both as a guitarist and bassist. With a wealth of experience and in depth education, I am prepared to give students a strong foundation in music to start out with and also help them fine tune their abilities into the advanced levels. *** Lesson Details *** I teach many different styles, including jazz, rock, classical, folk, bluegrass, and more, as well as rock and jazz electric bass styles. Jazz and rock guitar are my strongest styles and are what I perform in regularly. For beginning electric and acoustic guitar, I use the Hal Leonard Guitar Method with supplemental material, and use different materials depending on concentration for more advanced levels. For beginning classical guitar, I use the Suzuki books as well as other supplemental material. Students will learn sightreading, music theory, and ear training along with technical proficiency and thorough knowledge of repertoire. Students interested in songwriting and composition have the opportunity to study that if desired. I am a laid back teacher, but strongly encourage consistent practice and expect the most out of each student. I believe that though the lessons are very important in guiding the student, the majority of progress is done in the practice room, rather than during the lesson. I don't expect that all students become virtuosos, but the most enjoyment and satisfaction will come with consistent effort into playing. *** Specialties *** I am proficient with jazz, rock, and classical guitar and teach from the Hal Leonard Method for beginning electric/acoustic guitar and Suzuki for classical guitar. I teach beginning through advanced levels.
