    About Danny O.

I have spent years recording and using all kinds of guitar and audio gear such as tube amps, effect pedals, multi-effects units, keyboards, live delay/loopers and of course, computers and tape recorders. I have produced, written and performed complete album masters and my music is published with BMI. My original songs are distributed by CD Baby and available through iTunes and other music download sites. Currently use Apple products and Digidesign products for production of tracks and demos. My first introduction to music was listening to my mom play piano and her dance instruction. As a youngster, watching live jams in our living room was my introduction to group music. My first lesson in music was on accordion and then guitar as a teenager. I continued private lessons for years, then studied music theory in junior college while playing in original bands and recording throughout Los Angeles in the "pay to play days" For me, learning how to play guitar and sing at the same time really sparked my interest and gave me the confidence to keep moving forward. For each student there is an individual starting point and spark of interest. Once that point is determined it is time to have fun and get after that goal. With combining practice and fun in playing music and essentially songs, the spark stays! I emphasize song based practices for maintaining concentration and goal based practice. Why not strive to play a song without stopping? Its a natural expectation for anyone who will play on stage or in someone's backyard! *** Lesson Details *** Learn chords, songs, music notation, guitar tabs and scales and have fun with these tools to make music for yourself or to play in a group! Electric and Acoustic Guitars, Electric Bass, Slide guitar and alternative guitar tunings. Songwriting, recording and performance based playing is emphasized and encouraged. I like to combine all facets of music into my student's lessons and at the same time gauge their abilities and aspirations. We go from written music examples to listening examples of various styles and their relation. In time students ability will take into the "Jam Session" or as I like to call it "Weaving". When two musicians or more play together there is an unspoken communication (weaving) which happens naturally. When the player has some knowledge and experience with a foundation of musical tools, they get lost in the freedom of this experience. I like to use modern technology to expose the student in ways to support their own learning experience. If you are a singer songwriter, I can help you get from start to finish with your song. In the end you will have a high quality demo of your original song. If you only have a couple chords but a complete set of lyrics, we can complete the song in a final form in your lesson. If you just can't complete your song musically, I can be of help to document your idea in a demo or a finished mix, ready for airplay or internet distribution. One of the fun things my students encounter is that I can play opposite of what they play and get them playing in a jam quickly. If you play Bass, I'll play guitar and if you play Guitar, I'll play bass and sing.. Which I'm constantly working on.... *** Studio Equipment *** The home studio has a separate music room with seating, professional speakers and microphones for recording. We also have Guitars, Bass, Piano and amps with effects. Parking is on the street or in carport at the house. *** Travel Equipment *** Lesson materials, Metronome, tuners and audio recording/playback devices, microphone. We can record a lesson and allow the student to rehearse with an actual human performance. The iphone has incredible tools (apps) for the newcomber and the old pro! Essential for the students comprehension, A quiet room or a place without distraction for 30 minutes or more! *** Specialties *** Rock, Jazz, Pop, Reggae, Country and Acoustic Instrumentals, Improvisation and Digital Recording and Mastering
