    About Danielle V.

As an experienced piano teacher of 10 years, I have taught over 30 kids of all ages and levels (from beginner to advanced). While I focus on classical training, I am open to teaching any style of music you prefer and will be sure to incorporate an element of theory, musical expression, sight reading, and most importantly, enjoyment. I make a big effort to adapt my teaching style to each and every student. Throughout the course of study, I also offer all students the opportunity to learn performance and composition, and participate in self-hosted semi-annual recitals. Music is a therapy for the soul and I am very excited to share this passion with you. I also love to tutor students in mathematics and economics. Please feel free to reach out to me if you'd like me to help your child excel! I would love to help your child gain an appreciation for either subject. I am very patient and focused on success! A bit about me: I am a classically trained pianist and have been playing/performing piano for 17 years. In college, I received a bachelors in Economics and Music, and was the primary accompanist for all vocal majors and music school auditions. Moreover, I am affiliated with the Lisker Music Foundation – a foundation focused on showcasing young, internationally acclaimed musicians. While in school, I was also a Statistics and Microeconomics T.A. Post-graduation, I have taken Calculus 3 and Linear Algebra at the Northwestern School of Professional Studies. Currently, I am attending the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. * A Glance Into How Lessons Work * The main focus is you, the student. I will make sure to balance tailoring each lesson to your musical interests and helping you to grow professionally and technically as a musician. As such, the actual curriculum of the lessons I teach will vary greatly depending on your level and what style of music you find most meaningful to you. I do expect my students to work on their assigned music over the week and to come prepared to all of their lessons. Music, while a great outlet for the soul, also requires a sense of commitment and self-motivation to improve. I want to instill these habits of mind in my students. * Travel Equipment * I expect students to have a piano or full keyboard for practice and lessons. I have a wonderful connection to a couple piano/keyboard retailers and will gladly help you find the right instrument.
