I have been teaching private piano and vocal lessons for 14 years. I have been teaching students in the public schools for the past 6 years. I graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelors of Music, specifically voice and from Central Michigan University with a Masters degree in Educational Technology. Voice students can expect to learn proper vocal and breathing technique, as well as exercise specifically catered to his or her vocal needs. We will focus on whatever music style the student desires. I have worked with students who prefer classical, musical theatre, and popular style music. I work on performance and audition prep as well as self composition. The student is the driver of the lesson, I am merely providing the tools and expertise. Piano students will learn in a style that is completely customized to their lesson goal. I do not teach from a book song by song; each student has their own learning style and goal for what they desire from lessons. All students will learn music fundamentals and proper piano pedagogy while focusing on the music they wish to learn. I teach classical, popular, and piano accompaniment. As an experienced music teach both individually and in a classroom setting, I have learned how to tailor each lesson to fit the needs of the individual student. I have a plethora of experience working with all age levels and experience levels. I have taught students from grade school through graduation. Teaching is a very rewarding experience and I enjoy watching students achieve their goals and discover they are capable of much more than they imagined.
