As the creator and producer of San Diego IndieFest and Say It Records, I have a unique understanding of the industry, and love to share that with my students.

Hello Students / Parents!
I specialize in providing a fun, inspiring and safe space for each student to reach their goals - whether that be for the novice singer whose been wrongfully told they shouldn't sing, the more experienced singer looking to do more with their music, or the budding songwriter, actor or speaker looking to develop the talent and drive they feel within them.
I always remember the inspiration and patience I received from my best teachers, so I strive to provide exactly that to my own students. I sing and teach most vocal styles, with the exception of opera and screamo, and utilize my studio to create a supportive, empowering experience singing, speaking, writing and recording. I absolutely love teaching both children and adults and look forward to learning how to best support each one of my students in their individual path toward realizing their potential.
Here's a bit about my background and musical experience:
Bachelors of Fine Arts degree (Theatre/Voice) from United States International University Graduated Valedictorian
Chula Vista School of Creative and Performing Arts Graduated Valedictorian
Workshops and studying with Bill Doyle, Roy Mote, Andrew Barnicle, Jack Tygett, Leanne Summers, among others.
"After seeing Danielle, I was impressed with her intensity as a performer. Her ability to get behind a lyric was stunning, she lives every line. As an artistic performer, I've yet to see better."
-Tony Ferguson / Interscope Records: No Doubt, Bush, Fisher
My original band, Danielle and The Masses, has been recording and performing live since 2001. We are endorsed by Ani Difranco, The Black Eyed Peas, The Bruce Hornsby Band, and have shared the stage with artists as Jamie Foxx, CAKE, Metric, En Vogue, David Byrne, Berlin, Margaret Cho, Cyndi Lauper, Jonatha Brooke, Beth Hart, Semi Precious Weapons and more.
I have written and performed music and voice over for Ace Ventura, Nutty Professor, VH1, various TV shows and independent documentaries, Eveoke Dance Theatre, among others, as well as having recorded eight professional CDs of various styles on various record labels.
For over ten years, my record / production company, Say It Records has been producing socially conscious music events throughout San Diego and Southern California that promote independent music, film, art, community and human rights. I also co-own Durga Sound, a teaching and production studio, with producer Alicia Champion, as well as San Diego IndieFest, a powerful community event which promotes and supports music, film, art and civic engagement.
I have a great time utilizing my contacts in the industry to help my students get work/ press / entrance into the schools of their choice, etc. For example, I'm happy to report that just last year we were able to book eight musicians on GLEE, as well as lots more in other capacities including using their music in commercials and film and helping them get cast in local theatre and accepted into arts-centered schools.
*** Lesson Details ***
I start on the first lesson by becoming clear about what the new student's goals and desires are from there, we start developing technique to achieve those goals along with having fun right away doing what they came for - singing, writing, voice over, acting or using a combination of these things be it for professional purposes or personal fulfillment. Every lesson is personally customized to meet the specific goals of each student. As a teacher, I'm encouraging and fun, passionate and positive. While I'm definitely not "strict", I do appreciate focus and drive. However, I often work with people who have special needs and are working on developing those very things. I'm especially good at helping people through progress plateaus, roadblocks, stage fright, loss/ stress. Using music as a means of release and healing - for both kids and adults - is something I do a lot of and am very comfortable with.
As far as technique is concerned, I focus on utilizing posture, correct breathing and developing relaxed, strong support, so that the muscles are developed properly. We want the voice to develop without stress, enabling the student to constantly grow while steering clear of any injury that can happen as a result of straining, not to mention other habits that manifest when we sing without proper technique.
I strongly encourage students to record their lessons on a mobile device so they can practice easily on their own, and so they eventually have a record of how far they've grown.
We mostly use tracks to develop repertoire, prepare for auditioning and performances, and to have fun singing the music that excites each student the most.

*** Specialties ***
Using music, writing and voice as a means of expressing yourself, growing as a performance artist, coping in challenging times, as well as a means of going professional and earning income are all areas I specialize in. Utilizing proper technique and learning how to sing / speak safely is also an area I focus on a great deal.
Learning precisely what each student wants is the key factor in my decision on how to achieve their goals. For example, using Speech Level Singing is definitely entrenched in my teaching, but I may not highlight it as much for those who want a more classical sound.
I excel with the following: first timers, very young kids, students working through stage fright, artists looking to develop their own original project, those seeking growth in their process of writing / recording / performing, those who are interested in using music and / or writing as therapy as well as with amateurs who've always wanted to do something musical but who think they are "too old" or too "untalented/short/tall/ fill in the blank" to try. I believe we all have something to say with our lives - finding the voice within you can be an incredibly powerful and transformative experience!
As creator of Say It Records, Owner / Producer at Durga Sound Studio, Co-creator/Producer of San Diego IndieFest, Creator / Producer of Indie By Design and Celebrate Women's History Month, I have a lot of experience when it comes to recognizing, empowering and developing talent. I can't imagine a singing instructor better than Danielle LoPresti. All my life I was too inhibited to sing in front of anyone. I decided to see Danielle and fell in love with her as soon as I met her. She is so warm, wise, kind, and talented. We connected immediately, and her observations, instruction, and encouragement gave me the confidence to make my singing debut at my 60th birthday party. I highly recommend Danielle to everyone, whether they can sing a note or not. You will find your singing voice with Danielle. MY THIRD LESSON WITH DANIEL WENT WELL AND I AM HAPPY HAVING DANIELLE AS MY TEACHER
Danielle was absolutely wonderful with my 7 year old daughter. She tailored the voice lessons specifically for what we needed (help preparing for an audition), and what my daughter could handle. We had originally signed up for 1-hour lessons, but ended up doing a mixture of 45 minutes and 30 minute sessions because that worked better for my daughter. We did a mixture of in-person and Skype lessons, and I was surprised at how well the Skype lessons worked.
My daughter warmed up to Danielle very quickly, and really enjoyed working with her. Lessons were fun, and she got tremendously better over the course of a few weeks.
Danielle went way out of her way to accommodate my crazy work schedule and my daughter's need to practice (a lot) before her audition. She also created a track of piano music for my daughter to practice to at home, and emailed us all of the warm ups and other tools we needed. We ended up not using her fancy recording studio, but even having that as a possible option was amazing.
Danielle is a truly excellent teacher, and we will certainly return if my daughter decides that she wants to pursue singing on an ongoing basis.
Danielle brought a singer out in our daughter we had no idea was there. My daughter is incredibly shy but with Danielle's wonderful instruction & guidance she grew so much. She is a incredible instructor & person & would highly recommend her.+ Read More
I'm going to have to due two reviews because Danielle deserves 8 stars! She is fabulous and caring and patient and professional and takes such an interest in all her students. My 13 year old, who is ADHD, has been taking singing lessons from Danielle for over 5 years. She has been so patient and calm and so encouraging to my child, even when I could pull my hair out, she encourages her to take her time and will go over and over every note again and again until she gets it right. When things have been tough for my sweet 13 year old, Danielle helps her express herself through her singing and encouragement. My quiet, shy , and sweet girl has come out of her shell and is so self assured now. She loves Danielle and looks forward to every lesson. I am so grateful for Danielle!+ Read More

Warm, intelligent, thoughtful, vivacious, talented - Danielle is a natural teacher. I learned a lot with her and from her. I hope this will be a long and fruitful mentorship.
If there were ten stars available I'd rate Danielle 10 stars! She's a natural teacher--knowledgeable, patient, inspiring and clearly cares deeply about helping people be their best. Plus, she's got a great sense of humor and adds a touch playfulness to each lesson. And of course, she can sing like nobody's business!+ Read More
I came to Danielle as someone who loved to sing as a child and had some natural ability but had kind of 'lost my voice' somewhere along my way into my 20s. Singing had become a heavy, loaded, personal thing that I felt scared of or very shy about. Danielle created a safe space and provided excellent guidance for me to get reacquainted with my own sound, my own voice, and it was a very powerful experience. Thank you Danielle!+ Read More

Danielle is my daughter’s singing teacher for a while now. Danielle has several strengths, but her main strength, from my observations is her ability to motivate students. She’s always sincerely interested in her students’ progress and encourages my daughter to try her best. She has a great sense of humor and maintains a real positive attitude. Also, and most important Danielle has very strong vocal talent.
In my opinion Danielle displays the qualities that make a teacher successful, dependable, motivated, and in tune with the needs of her students.
My daughter is highly motivated to continue her singing classes with Danielle and I’m very appreciative of Danielle’s style of teaching and patience with Sam.
There is so much to say about Danielle and it is all good. She is a great teacher and makes it easy for you to feel comfortable. I first came across Danielle working on her home. After finding out she teaches singing my eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store! Where do I sign up. I've been playing acoustic guitar for 7 years and enjoy writing songs only thing missing was my voice to sing them. I have always thought people with great voices had them to begin with, wrong in most cases. She has helped me so much from the basic level of proper breathing, voice control and song writing. Her amazing partner Alicia is right there to help produce your songs at a professional quality! Be aware Danielle will get into your heart and soul and you might need some kleenex! Thx Danielle for getting me out of the singing closet! :)+ Read More

Danielle is one of the most kind-hearted, positive women I know. I have been taking lessons with her for about 4 months now and she has really taught me a lot about myself and getting over my insecurities about my voice tone and singing in front of others. Her knowledge of the music industry has also really helped put the process all in perspective for me. Being somewhat of a closet singer, I look forward to her guidance each week to help bring this talent and passion for singing out of me!+ Read More
Danielle is a super awesome teacher!
Danielle is amazing!
I took singing lessons with Danielle for about a year. She is a fantastic teacher with a ton of experience!! Danielle does an excellent job meeting her students where they are at and working from there to build vocal skills and confidence. Danielle really cares about what it is you are looking for in a singing lesson experience, which is awesome :) She really tailors the lessons to reflect each student. She is flexible and able to work with children, teens, and adults on accomplishing their particular vocal goals. Danielle is so full of heart and passion, anyone who is lucky enough to be her student feels her commitment to being an excellent teacher and support for you. Take vocal lessons with Danielle, you won't regret it!
I took lessons with Danielle for about six months and I not only became a much better singer, I acquired the tools that I needed to develop my voice without building bad habits.
One thing that I noticed with vocal lessons is that learning to sing properly from the beginning is not something you can easily do on your own. YouTube how-tos or not, learning the proper technique was something I couldn't have done without Danielle standing next to me and reminding me of things such as: "Smile as you sing" "Sing from your gut" "Open your mouth more" "Your straining"....
That in the moment coaching is invaluable when it comes to learning to sing well. And she would always do it without ever making me feel discouraged.
Danielle was just amazing with our daughter
Our youngest daughter has an amazing singing voice, but was shy and not always confident about her talent. She took from Danielle in high school in tandem with performing with a local Junior Theatre group. Danielle's encouragement and training helped her win solo opportunity after solo opportunity and gain confidence about her stage presence. We're so lucky to have been able to work with Danielle - our daughter will enjoy and share her talent for the rest of her life.
My daughter loved to sing, but had zero experience and wanted to audition for San Diego Junior Theater. We randomly met Danielle and asked for her help. After only one lesson, she steered my daughter towards a Broadway piece, Consider Yourself, something we had never even thought of. It was the perfect choice, and she was the youngest member cast for the play! It was such a wonderful experience, we've now moved to Atlanta and have yet to find such a thoughtful and talented teacher. Anyone would love her! She bursts with enthusiasm and it's contagious. And her home studio is amazing. She made us a recording of Nicki singing Christmas carols as a surprise gift to us, we'll treasure that forever!
Danielle is the BEST
Selecting a teacher to work 1:1 with your child can be very stressful. Danielle was referred to us by a drama teacher at school who's opinion I greatly value. The teacher had nothing but wonderful things to say about Danielle and now I know they are all true. I employed Danielle to work with my 8th grade son who has ADHD and can be quite a handful. I needed to prepare my son for an audition to get him into a art's high school with a vocal and musical theater audition. Danielle select the perfect song and monologue that fit my son perfectly. She worked with him weekly and when it came time to audition he was more than prepared. No matter what type of personality you or your child has Danielle is able to adapt and make the lessons fun and productive.
One of a kind
I am the mother of one a Danielle's students. My daughter has been training with her for 4 years. Danielle has taught my daughter singing, song writing, theatre singing, acting/audition prepartion & prepared her for musical performances. In that time I have seen my daughter grow so much professionally & in her confidence when she sings & goes on auditions. Danielle encourages her & keeps her focused. She has a way of talking to my daughter that she really responds to & pays attention to her praise & advice. Danielle is very caring & fun. She is a very inspiring teacher & keeps pushing my daughter to the next level. My daughter was able to get into the performing arts school of her choice & within the first 2 weeks of school was already transfered to the Advanced Theatre class. The enviornment of her studio is clean, positive & professional. Thank you Danielle, what you have done for my daughter is priceless.
Unparalleled Singing and Acting instructor, in skill, approach, and talent.
Danielle has taught my daughter Voice and Acting, and my son Voice. In both cases, Danielle got to know my children's goals and dreams, as well as what they most needed and wanted to work on. Both of my children looked forward to their lessons immensely, knowing they would be greeted with respect, fun, challenges, and intensive attention to their progress. Danielle is herself a talented performer, and since my children had seen her sing and have heard her voice-overs on TV and radio, they knew that she took their goals as artists seriously. My daughter is now 19 and, largely thanks to Danielle's instruction and encouragement, makes her living as an actor in L.A. My son is 17 and sings and plays horn in a professionally-gigging Jazz band; he is also clarinet section leader of his high school Marching Band, and a member of the school's auditioned show choir. He has twice sung the Star Spangled Banner at his school football games as a soloist. His skill, style, and especially his confidence were honed via Danielle's tutelage. My children's specific talents and goals, as well as their overall development as performing artists flourished under Danielle's dynamic and caring instruction.
An amazing & talented vocal coach
In the last 4 years I have learned more from Danielle than in all my years of singing. Her love for singing music and teaching students is clear. Not only has she improved the quality of my voice, but also given it confidence, expression, and strength. In addition to my vocal coaching, she has worked with me to develop my songwriting skills.
Danielle teaches with passion, dedication, and creativity, and a session with her is so much more than just a singing lesson. She cares about her students and can teach any age or singing ability. She is truly one of the most amazing musicians I've ever met!
Danielle is a powerhouse and incredible vocal/songwriting coach!
Danielles coaching made a significant difference for me as an artist. I attribute many of the things I have accomplished because of the training and development I received from Danielle. She has a way of getting you to that authentic, and sometimes vulnerable place where the beauty and depth of your voice lies. She helped me connect to every lyric I was singing so that a beat didn't go by without honesty. I also learned an enormous amount about songwriting. It was always something I enjoyed, but Danielle helped me really understand the craft. Through her coaching I gained a tremendous amount of courage and empowerment as an artist. Not only that, but she is an incredibly inspiring and generous artist herself. It's hard to find people like that, especially in this crazy music business. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work for her!
THE best voice teacher ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Danielle is extremely knowledgeable about singing and performing-
and not only that, she adapts the lesson to you!
If you need help as a professional singer or just doing it for fun she is the person you need in your life.
With her techniques I have gained confidence and have greatly improved my range.
I feel so fortunate to have her as a teacher.
