Music Makers

Music Makers is a rock school in the Hilltop Area of Virginia Beach. Although they focus on guitar, drums, guitar, piano, vocals, etc., I'm proud to be their strings teacher 1 day per week!

Princess Anne Elementary School

During the school year, I serve as the General Music and Strings Teacher at Princess Anne Elementary School. I teach PreK-5th Grade General Music, 4th-5th Grade Chorus, and 5th Grade Strings. Because of this, I am only available nights and weekends during the school year, but I am free for daytime lessons all summer!

757 Strings

In addition to lessons and my public school teaching, I enjoy playing music for weddings, parties and other events. My business, 757 Strings, is how I bring together musicians and clients to set their memories to music!

The Music, Staff, Inc.

The Music Staff, Inc. is a privately owned music school in the Western Branch area of Chesapeake, VA. While I was finishing up my student teaching in Virginia Beach I was able to teach here in the evening. This business is where I get many of my administrative ideas and policies - this is a wonderful place. The owners are retiring and I myself am looking to teach closer to home, so now I am available to you instead!

Shenandoah Valley Academy

While a student at JMU, I was hired by the Shenandoah Valley Academy, a nearby boarding school for high schoolers. Students are able to take music lessons as an elective class, and I served as adjunct faculty at the school to teach those students.

JMU String Project

The JMU String Project is run by the String Education department at JMU. Students from the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Area are able to participate group and/or private string lessons at almost no cost in an area where strings are not present in the public schools.

JMU Spring String Thing

The JMU Spring String Thing is an amazing weekend-long orchestra camp for middle and high school students. Students spend the weekend learning music in a skill-appropriate orchestra, staying in the JMU Dorms, participating in social events, and concluding with a beautiful concert for the parents. I have counseled this event, serving as both a counselor and as a section coach with the students, for the past 6 years. I have no plans of leaving this amazing event!

Our Mission is to demonstrate the value of Orff Schulwerk and promote its widespread use; to support the professional development of our members; and, to inspire and advocate for the creative potential of all learners.

The American String Teachers Association, founded more than 60 years ago, is a membership organization for string and orchestra teachers and players, helping them to develop and refine their careers. ASTA's members range from budding student teachers to artist-status performers. The organization provides a vast array of services, including instrument insurance, an award-winning scholarly journal, discounts on publications and resources, annual professional development opportunities, and access to collegial network of colleagues throughout the string profession.
