When I started learning oboe at age 10 I was told by my band director that it was going to be too difficult and not worth the trouble. I have learned that this is far too often the case for young kids. The oboe is no harder than any other instrument if you have a good teacher who knows how to teach! I want to make sure that no one misses out on the joy of this instrument due to misinformation or intimidation.
I have been teaching the oboe for over eight years, both in a formal setting at a music camp and as a private instructor in Massachusetts. I will make the process of learning enjoyable and stress-free for any student at any age. Good reeds and the right technical approach are all it takes.
I have spare instruments available for students who want to give the instrument a try without a big commitment.

Daniel is a very engaging teacher that makes learning to play the oboe enjoyable. His encouragement made playing the oboe more fulfilling for me than it had ever been in the past with other instructors. He strikes a good balance between constructive criticism and cheerful reward for a job well done. Time in lessons is always well spent and I always walked out feeling like I had made great improvements in just an hour's time. I would highly recommend him!

Dan is wonderful. Let alone the fact that he's amazing at what he does, the way he teaches is so easy and good for whatever level you may be at. I learned with him for a few years at Camp Encore/Coda and then for a little while during the year, so I got to know him really well. He helped my knowledge and skill with the oboe grow immensely. When I started with him, I was not very good at playing, and he gave me the exercises right for me. He is so nice to learn from for he understands what is the best for his student, and he pushes you the right amount so you improve, but don't get stressed out or worried. I didn't think "I'm not good enough" when he gave me something hard for he gave me the tools needed to keep moving forward. Learning from Dan was a really great experience.

Oboe Teacher
Jun, 2010 - Aug, 2014Camp Encore/Coda
Along with being a counselor for many years, I taught students during the summer months in the woods of Maine, not far from my home where I grew up. I worked with many students of different ages and backgrounds in individual performance and also in chamber groups.
