I have been playing saxophone for 24 years, drums for 10 years, and have been teaching both privately and as a public school band director for 17 years. I hold both a bachelor's and a master's degree in music education from Portland State University, and am a National Board Certified Teacher.

I play professionally around the Northwest outside of my day job as a band director. I spend most of my time playing in jazz and classical groups, but have taken the occasional side gig of rock, blues, or show music.

I have had the pleasure of playing with fine classical wind bands like the Northwest Wind Symphony and Portland Wind Symphony. On the jazz side, I spent many years with the It's About Time Big Band, the 7th Street Jazz Band, and the Northwest Jazz Orchestra. I often play small side gigs and summer concert series, most recently performing with the well known rock band The Kingsmen.

My teaching style is structured and challenging, but rewarding and fun for any age or experience level. Many students leave my studio exhausted and motivated to play more!
