    About Daniel M.

I have been playing bass for over 15 years. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from St. Olaf College, playing with the St. Olaf Orchestra. In the orchestra, I toured around the United States and to China. My senior year, I performed as a soloist on the orchestra's domestic tour, playing Giovanni Bottesini's 2nd concerto. After graduating from St. Olaf, I taught for a year with El Sistema Minnesota, a community music education organization modeled after the Venezuelan system. While teaching with El Sistema, I also began freelancing with orchestras around Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. In September 2015, I moved to Chicago to pursue my masters degree at DePaul University. I also play with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and am a substitute for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. I believe the true power of music comes through playing with and for others. My teaching aims to cultivate this communal, ensemble attitude alongside a high caliber of playing.
