Hi! I studied classical guitar at USC with Scott Tennant, Brian Head, Bill Kanengiser, Pepe Romero, and many more. I can teach you classics like Recuerdos de la Alhambra. I can teach you baroque styles as well. I also love Brazilian.

About Daniel L.

Hi! I am so stoked that you have decided to take guitar lessons. The guitar is an endlessly fascinating instrument that can be used to play a wide variety of styles. I look forward to sharing my knowledge of the instrument with you regardless of your skill level.

A little bit about my journey with the guitar...

I began my life with the guitar by taking electric guitar lessons in the blues and soul genre from a Vallejo legend named Carl 'Good Rockin' Robinson and classically with Leo Cavanagh.

Then I studied steel-string acoustic guitar with renown Italian fingerstyle guitarist and composer Peppino D'Agostino. Meanwhile, I learned folk, country, bluegrass, and old-time flat-picking from Eric Thomson (website error prevents me from spelling his name correctly with a "p") and studied jazz with Mimi Fox.

In college, I had the privilege to study classical guitar with Scott Tennant and Pepe Romero.

Today I play guitar in a rock band called Idle Joy, back up a folk singer known as Rainy Eyes, and play classical guitar at private events. Recently, I had the great privilege of opening for a hero of mine, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, at The Chapel in San Francisco.

Daniel has such a rich knowledge of the guitar that he imparted to me with such an ease of explanation and patience. His teaching style encouraged me to believe that I could play anything I wanted on guitar, that there were no limits to what I could do or play. He never treated me like a beginner, he treated me like a pro, and was able to teach me skill sets and songs that I felt were way beyond my level because of his careful instruction and tuning into my optimal learning style right away.
Needless to say, he’s an amazing music teacher and he’s also the most skilled guitarist I’ve ever met.

Daniel Lavezzo is an extremely knowledgeable, open and dynamic guitar tutor. He was always willing and able to teach me everything I wanted or needed to know. I studied classical, finger-style acoustic, blues and a little bit of jazz with him. He always took me to that next level of playing and kept me inspired. On top of all that he is genuinely positive and kind. I highly recommend studying under him.
