Hello! My name is Dan and I'm a professional and international freelance performer and teacher with a focus in percussion/drumset in an incredibly wide range of genres. Just to give you an idea of my work, in 2016 I was a second prize winner in one of the biggest solo percussion competitions in the world and have subsequently went on to freelance in Germany and Europe with my duo partner Ayami Okamura. While I typically find myself arranging and studying new classical/contemporary music in chamber and small group settings, I also frequently perform renaissance and baroque arrangements on Marimba. Next to the freelance work that I often do as a jazz drummer playing in several one off bands and groups, I feel that this blend of several areas of musical expression inform a greater understanding of the art. It is always a pleasure to share that knowledge with students and to find these beautiful connections between language and art/music. If we get a chance to work together, I assure you we will always look or a creative and entertaining to way to tackle and challenges or problems just as I have in my career. For example, the most that I learned playing drum set growing up was attributed to the guidance that my teachers gave me, sure, but I benefited most from a sense of experimentation that I was able to apply on my own when I sat down at the drum set in my basement all those years ago. That sense of creativity and flexibility has helped me tantamount in my career as a professional musician and teacher and I can't wait to share it with you! Cheers! Dan
