I am a graduate student of violin performance at Sacramento State University, welcoming all ages and ability levels for violin lessons. Lessons will be designed to help you reach your personal goals and take your playing to the next level. Whether you're looking to build a strong musical foundation, improve your technique, learn to sight-read, or just learn some tunes, I look forward to working with you!

About Daniel B.

I am a recent graduate from Sacramento State University where I enjoyed serving as concertmaster for the University's Symphony Orchestra and participating in chamber music. I also taught students of all levels there for two years.

I began learning the violin at age 7 through the Suzuki method. While Suzuki informs much of my violin teaching, I am willing to be flexible based on the needs and goals of my students. I believe that technical proficiency is key and that any student willing to learn can master their technique. For more advanced students, I'd be happy to work to find a great repertoire that meets your needs.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. There, I performed with the University Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, Opera, and various chamber ensembles. Outside of university, I've been honored to participate in fantastic music festivals over the years, from the Omaha Conservatory of Music Institute to the Orfeo Festival in the Italian Alps. I've also studied with great teachers across the country.

I'm especially passionate about contemporary violin music. Some of my favorite performances have been of Maria Newman's Requiem Missa Mortem Da Pacem, and Philip Glass's Piano Concerto No. 2, each with the composer present. While primarily a classically trained violinist, I've been known to enjoy a good fiddle tune as well. I look forward to working with you and helping you grow as a musician!

Pays attention to detail, clear teaching and instructions, and finds alternative solutions and/or explanations to reinforce learning.

Very clear explanations, and I left the first lesson with good goals and a handful of things to practice. Having the lesson online worked out very well and didn't take away from the experience or efficient use of time at all.

I am an adult beginner in my 30's and was a little nervous about starting my lessons. However, I have to say, great lesson! He really took the time to listen to what I wanted to work on and make recommendations. Then he was able to quickly spot areas for improvement and give corrections that were very relatable and easy to understand. I can't wait to keep working with Daniel.
