    About Dan B.

Hey there! I'm here, happy and ready to be guiding YOU through the path to your own sound. I believe everyone has an innate ability to be able to express themselves musically - they just need to find it. I discovered my true passion when I started playing guitar at age 13. Ever since then, I've branched out to other types of guitars (Acoustic, Electric, Sitar, Banjo, Ukulele) as well as many different genres (Rock, Blues, Hip/Hop, Metal, Classical, Reggae, Progressive, Ambient, Folk, Experimental, Punk, etc.). The importance of songwriting, melody crafting, harmonic arrangement, and lyrics came to me when I discovered the true talent of groups like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley, Simon & Garfunkel, and Pink Floyd. I taught myself how to sing and how to play the piano about 6 years ago. On May 2012, I graduated from UMass Amherst with a Bachelors in Marketing/Psychology. I decided not to attend college for Music because I wanted to learn more, musically, on my own experiences playing by myself as well as with others. Essentially, I didn't want to learn the same material as everyone else. Nevertheless, I played guitar, piano, and sung every day of the week - before/after and between classes. It's my true calling. I've been teaching guitar for 8 years, vocals for 3 years, and piano for 2 years. Always extremely patient, I want to completely understand the student's goals and aspirations as a musician. I will help you get there. A keen listener, I'll always be recognizing your improvement. *** Lesson Details *** Learning music is extremely effective through a strong relationship between the teacher and the student. I am a very friendly, patient, honest, open and fair-minded individual who wants nothing more than to see a student grow as a musician. It has to be fun; you have to be enjoying it! That's what it's all about. To start, I approach teaching guitar, vocals, piano, and songwriting by understanding the student's goals, and then designing a curriculum around them. I will guide you through everything including pitch, technique, melody crafting, harmonic arrangement, chords, soloing/phrasing, improvisation, scales, tone quality, endurance, and listening skills. *** Studio Equipment *** Basement set up- Great for lessons and practice. All necessary instruments. Seating for parents. *** Travel Equipment *** I provide: cables, amps expect student to provide: his/her own guitar *** Specialties *** rock, blues, folk, acoustic, progressive, ambient, funk, jazz, experimental, classical, electronic
