Hello all, my name is Dan, and I am a student of the piano. "Studying" an instrument is a broad topic, and encompasses so much; it's exciting, and fun, and a journey that will last a lifetime.
I want to explore the piano with other eager students, of all ages. I strongly believe that every student is different, not just mentally in terms of how they approach the piano and music, but physically: the human hand and the modern keyboard are not exactly in perfect accord. To become a great pianist, a student must understand their hand, and how it relates to the keyboard. While there are some "universal" truths that are worth exploring, ultimately, no one technique will fit all hands, and each pianist must create their own technique.
With that in mind, our lessons will focus entirely on you. My hope is to help you fully understand the pieces you play, the technique you need to play them, and crucially, how to practice that technique, while maintaining your repertoire and musicality.
I am more than happy to meet with you for a free introductory lesson, where we can discuss not only you and your goals, but give you a broad overview of my teaching philosophy, and how we will tackle those goals.
