I have been playing the guitar for over ten years. I've been teaching for about 7 years. In my senior year of high school I started playing classical guitar at private events such as weddings, parties, dinners, and other social gatherings across Los Angeles. I am currently finishing school for music composition and guitar performance. I've taken lessons from Stephen F. Jones who is the classical guitar instructor at Pasaden City College (PCC). Ive performed in the 2013 Guitar Foundation Of America symposium and performed in front of John Dearman who founded the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and winner of multiple grammys for classical guitar. I take private lessons from Kenton Youngstrom, a Magna Cum Laude Performance Major and founder of the Falla Trio.
I've played in death/thrash metal bands, rock'n'roll cover bands, guitar ensembles, and had the opportunity to play in clubs in Hollywood like the Whiskey, The Roxy, and the Key club. I started playing a lot of Van Halen when I started, so I can teach you all the tricks he would use that are always being used by great guitarists even today.
I am a very easy going, mellow person. I am great with children and I love teaching music. I love seeing the moment my students have that Eureka!! moment and have a better understanding for the music being played.
*** Lesson Details ***
I am a very patient teacher. I understand when beginning to grasp new concepts it can be a little overwhelming at first. I'll teach you step by step the songs you want to learn and the ability to teach yourself. I customize future lesson plans based off our first lesson to hit the areas I feel you need work on. It is up to you to practice (or make your children practice) and make yourself the player you want to be with the tools I give you.
I use tabs or music notation. If you want to just learn how to play and don't want to bother learning music theory I can just teach you the fingerings and exercises to build the muscle memory needed to play .
At the end of the day its what your brain remembers not your fingers.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a nylon string guitar and an electric guitar and amp.
*** Specialties ***
