I received my Bachelor of Music degree, with a specialization in vocal performance, in 2010. In the past 10 years, I've toured Europe with various ensembles, recorded both solo and choral work, and taught throughout Los Angeles. I have also served as cantor and guest conductor at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. My training has been focused on classical and operatic repertoire, but I have mostly taught non-classical voice students. Regardless of a student's age or goals, the overarching theme in my lessons is using your voice efficiently. And of course being a good musician. That being said, I'm not a snob about music choices. As a teacher, I'd rather you sing what you love and sing it well than sing an "assignment." I'm not here to impose anything on anyone. I just want you to love music as much as I do. *** Lesson Details *** I will tailor my lessons to each student, depending on their age, level of experience, and goals. Ultimately, I want all of my students to gain a deeper appreciation for singing, regardless of what they intend on doing with it. I'm very patient and understanding and I try to keep my lessons fun! Some of the aspects that I cover with almost all of my students are: vocal and performance technique, intonation, diction, genre-specific styles, breathing, relaxation technique, and basic music theory (where applicable). Another important aspect: learning to learn music on your own (if you can't already). A voice lesson for beginning and intermediate students would most likely go as follows: (1) breathing exercises, (2) warm-up, (3) brief review of elements discussed in previous week's lesson, (4) sing through repertoire (while paying attention to technique, diction, etc.), (5) begin working on new repertoire, to be practiced for next week's lesson (rhythm, diction, melody, etc.) We can take lessons as fast/slow as is comfortable for you. This is just an example of what a typical lesson would be like for someone interested in having some solid repertoire under their belt. *** Specialties *** Classical voice, opera, foreign language
