I specialize in providing custom lessons for students based on their individual goals. My experience allows me to teach anything from more classical training (note reading) to playing by ear using chords, theory, and the Nashville number system. I also have experience working with students who are songwriters/performers and need to be comfortable playing and singing at the same time.

Hi! I'm a professional musician and piano teacher with over 15 years experience teaching students of all ages and levels. I believe that learning a new instrument should be an amazing experience, and I work hard to make sure that my students love playing piano! Each student has different musical goals, so I custom tailor lessons to help students maximize lesson time and reach their goals.

We first met Crystal Burks Barker approximately five years ago when she was the music teacher at a private school my son attended.  He started taking group piano lessons about a couple of months after the class had started.  To catch up, he took both private and group classes.  He caught up in no time thanks to his wonderful teacher. She was so good with my son's lesson that I decided to start taking lessons from her.  I have always wanted to learn to play piano and decided now was the time.  Mrs.. Barker saw my dream and has made it a reality. She is both patient and kind when it comes to giving lessons.  She makes the lessons age appropriate. A year ago, she told us that she was moving away. We did not want to get another instructor, since we knew there would never be another teacher like her. We are so thankful for SKYPE. It is great to be at home for the lesson.

Crystal Barker is by far the best piano instructor in the business.  We met Mrs. Barker when she taught music at my son's private school almost five years ago.  We have been with her ever since.  My son started taking additional lessons from her in a group setting, and moved into private lessons.  His ability has grown tremendously since that time.  Mrs. Barker makes learning fun, is flexible with her time, and provides an outstanding service for her price.  We love her so much we were not willing to find another instructor when she moved from our area - thank God for Skype - it has been a blessing for my son to still take lessons from her in the comfort of our own home.
