Hello! I play anything from bluegrass to jazz and in between. I love teaching the violin in a practical manner and one that gets you playing with people (in a band, jam group, or orchestra) as efficiently as possible. I can teach improvisation, theory, playing with effects pedals, maintaining and honing a healthy and sustainable way to play the violin, backing up a soloist and grooving, getting those classical etudes in top form, or just about anything you need to work on. I played in the orchestra at St. Mary's College of Maryland from 2012-2016 and graduated with my degree in Music and a minor in Education. I played in the Chesapeake Orchestra for the summers of 2013 and 2014. I studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland in the fall of 2015 and gained interest in improvisational genres. I started playing with effect pedals and played in a jam band once I got back to the states. I graduated in 2016 and worked as an audio engineer for awhile and had to essentially reteach myself the violin in a more practical manner. Classical training gets you stuck in a box a lot of the time and being able to know the instrument more completely and not in terms of positions and such is very freeing! Ever since I have been teaching myself new genres and currently I am very into chopping and playing rhythmically on the violin. I have played for 19 years and I also play guitar and sing some.

Crosby is a very encouraging teacher, and has crafted lessons around my goals. We work on ear training and perfecting individual skills alongside a couple full pieces every week.

Crosby was very helpful with my beginner student! He has a way of explaining things that is easy to understand and is very patient and kind. I would recommend him to anyone from beginner to advanced, as he has plenty of experience!

Talk about a learning opportunity! I've been taking lessons with Crosby for over a year now and I've grown not only as a musician but as a person. Every lesson is personally crafted and he demonstrates the right techniques to focus on for every song. I started playing Christmas songs on the fiddle to taking ripping bluegrass solo's in the time I've spent working with him. He specializes in old time, bluegrass, jazz and funk fiddle so he's a multi faceted musician and teacher. Highly reccomend!!!
