Music Theory with Cristian C.

HELLO! My name is Cristian and I have a rather unusual history and background. I was originally a metal head who turned to piano playing because a lot of classical music sounded like my favorite band's guitar sections. After teaching myself from age 14 for 3 years, I was playing at a level that most teachers would agree was around the 8 year mark (including my first piano teacher at age 17). I took it as sign that I should pursue this piano thing. After completing the music courses at a local community college, I got encouraged to begin teaching piano as a way to make a living. That turned out to be the best thing I had ever done for myself...I ended up loving teaching and watching my students grow as accomplished pianist. I have taught well over 150 students, some of which have been with me all these years. One thing I pride myself in is being the type of teacher who REALLY wants to see the student succeed and to see that spark in the student's eyes when they play amazing/beautiful music for the first time and they feel the excitement I had when I used to play as a teenager. That alone is my favorite part about teaching. It brings me the most joy and it is why I look forward to helping the student find their way each and every day; no matter the obstacle.
