I have 21 years of experience teaching middle school through high school band students. I have been a head band director for all 21 years, with many students earning music scholarships, receiving superior ratings at solo and ensemble festival, as well as positions in all-region and all-state band. My bands have been known for playing well, being selected as an Oklahoma Music Educators' Association Honor group as well as the Music for All National Festival. I am hoping to help students who do not have band classes now due to the school closures but am happy to teach anyone interested. Students will find me patient and engaging. I absolutely love band and can't wait to teach you or your child!

About Craig A.

Nice to meet you! I have 21 years of experience as a head band director. During these 21 years, I taught students from 6th grade through high school. I attended the University of Oklahoma and have orchestral experience, as well as experience conducting an adult community band and am an assistant director of music for a church. I conduct, rehearse, and continue to play professionally.

I absolutely love teaching and cannot wait for you to learn! You will find playing an instrument a fun challenge that opens many doors to your future. You will learn skills that not only pertain to being a musician, but also skills that will help you in other areas of your life. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have. I can't wait to give you your first lesson!

Craig Amendt is a fantastic teacher. He was my first band teacher ever and taught me private lessons for the first few years on my instrument. He instilled a love of music in me that carried me all the way through college and is still huge part of my life. I’m now a music educator as well and it may have never happened if Craig hadn’t been my first teacher. I highly recommend Craig as a teacher because he is passionate and dedicated, and he will give you the tools to be successful no matter what age or level of player that you are.

Craig Amendt has been a reliable and knowledgeable lessons teacher and band director for me for many years. He is very dedicated to his students and will do anything in his power to help them Excell. Craig has experience with a wide range of instruments and a calm, yet effective method to teaching. Additionally, he also has experience with students of all ages and skill levels. With Craig's mentoring I was able to achieve many accolades including: principal trumpet player, superior ratings at solo and ensemble competitions, and many successful college auditions. He has always been good at picking exercises and compositions out for me to practice that are not beyond my skill level, but still challenging enough to give ample room for improvement. I have Criag to thank for my love of music and my confidence to strive for my next challenge.

Craig Amendt was a wonderful private instructor while I received lessons from him. He is very understanding of many types of literature and understands how to give his student a larger sense of musicality. He has a very good ear and can easily identify the problems that a student is having.
