I am a professional musician (violinist/violist) and I actively search for places to perform within the community. I studied violin and music education at Indiana University of PA, I received my masters in music education from Boston University, and I currently teach at a public school in PA.
My responsibility and goal as a teacher is to help you, the student, become a better musician. I will work hard to teach you in an uplifting, positive environment. My expectation of each student is that they are serious about improving their skills on their chosen instrument, and that they are well-prepared for each lesson (this means daily practice!) These policies are in place to help you to be successful. I love to have fun while teaching.
I will allow you to help me guide your lesson (think about what you want to get out of each lesson before you come). If there are pieces of music you want to learn, techniques you don't yet know, or passages you need help with, just ask! As long as you are constantly striving to be better at what you are doing, we will get along just fine!
I am a volunteer musician for the West Shore Symphony Orchestra, and although I move between 1st and 2nd violin, I am usually the principle 2nd violinist for the symphony. I have performed works such as the Tchaikovsky 5th Symphony, The Saint Seans "Organ" Symphony, several works by composers such as Beethoven, Menddelsohn, Dvorak, etc.+ Read More
I direct the elementary, middle, and high school orchestra and teach small group lessons to each of my students.
I play all over the community for weddings, musicals, concerts, church services, etc. Any time there is an opportunity or a need for a violinist or violist, I am ready and willing to play. I believe that actively performing is important as a teacher, in order to keep up with my skills that I am teaching my students.+ Read More
