    About Corinne D.

Corinne D. specializes in healthy belting for musical theatre, pop, jazz, R&B, gospel and country styles of singing as well as classical and opera. She has been teaching privately since 2006, and spent two years as a student teacher for the Knoxville Children's Choirs, in her home state of Tennessee. Corinne holds a dual Master's in Opera and Musical Theatre Performance from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor's in Voice Performance with a minor in Theatre Performance from Middle Tennessee State University. Her healthy belt technique was developed through years of training in both classical and popular styles of singing with pedagogues such as David Jones, Lauren Sawyer, Anne Kopta, and Dr. Christine Isley-Farmer. Ms. D. spent the summer of 2011 studying opera and German Cabaret singing, as well as performing at the Middle Saxony Theatre in Freiberg, Germany. When studying with Corinne, singers develop classical technique as a foundation and then learn to modify the resonating space to create the desired sound for their style- leading to a popular sound without strain on the vocal cords. A strong performer, Corinne also has thorough training as an actor, and integrates acting into her lessons to turn out not simply singers, but well-rounded performers. Her musical theatre credits include: "Die Dreigroschenoper" (The Threepenny Opera) (Jenny), "Der kleine Horrorladen" (Little Shop of Horrors) (Chiffon), "The Last 5 Years" (Cathy), "Once Upon a Mattress" (Lady Larken), "Anything Goes!" (Erma), "Pippin" (Fastrada), "High School Musical" (Ms. Darbus) and "Nunsense!" (Sister Hubert). Opera credits include: "Vanessa" (Vanessa cover), "Hansel and Gretel" (Witch), "Die Zauberflote" (First Lady and Second Lady), "Suor Angelica" (La Zia Principessa and La Maestra della Novizie), and "Tartuffe" (Elmire). Corinne is also very passionate about working with modern composers and playwrights, and sang in the premiers of the following musicals and operas: "Some-thing from No-thing", "Scarlet Letter... The Musical", "Queen Victoria's Floating Garden of Secrets and Natural Wonders", and "Mayor Moon and the Storytelling Festival" - a children's musical that premiered in the US and then toured in Honduras as part of Middle Tennessee State University's Honduras Project. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons generally consist of 1/2 exercises and technique, and 1/2 repertoire, style and performance. Repertoire is chosen by the student and Corinne together- she will never assign a student a song they hate! Sheet music of repertoire will either be provided by Corinne or purchased by the student (most can be purchased online, downloaded and printed). Corinne generally works with accompaniment tracks for singer repertoire, so students can practice with accompaniment at home, and she can focus on listening to their singing during lessons. These can generally be purchased on Amazon.com and downloaded very cheaply. Corinne provides all singers with high quality Mp3 recordings of each lesson for easy practice of exercises and review. *** Studio Equipment *** High quality Mp3 recordings of each lesson included in fee! *** Travel Equipment *** Keyboard, high quality digital recorder (Zoom) *** Specialties *** Musical Theatre, Opera, Jazz, Pop, Country, Performing, Acting, Theory, Alexander Technique, healthy singing for all ages!
