I was 13 when I received my first bass and up through high school mostly played classic rock and punk. After high school I really got into Jazz and studied it for a few years before being accepted into CSU long beach music program. At CSU Long Beach I had the opportunity to perform with many different styles of jazz and many different group sizes and instrumentation. I also played in their orchestra and received classical training for the upright bass. Since graduating I have a working blues and rock band I gig with regularly all over LA county and a Rock Band that plays LA county also. Throughout the past 12 years since I started playing music I have written, arranged and put groups together to perform my original music. With this training and experience I can offer any student a stronger foundation for playing and performing their music but also help with creating their own music.
*** Lesson Details ***
I believe that a strong grasp of fundamental skills is essential for a musician to grow to their potential. These fundamentals would include sight reading, ear training and technical exercises like scales and etudes. While working on a strong technical foundation I also like to help students with music they are trying to learn and or write. After a few months you should expect to be able to start playing scales, understand good technique and be on your way to raising the quality in which you perform your music.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have an instrument, thats all. If they don't even have an instrument how do they practice what im teaching them?
