    About Corey C.

My teaching method can be broken into two categories - For beginners: I will guide you through a time-tested and well-rounded method to get you up and running with the basics. I focus on fundamentals like basic scales and chords, optimal hand and finger placement, right hand picking technique etc. There is, however, plenty of room for having fun learning to play songs and riffs, because let’s be honest, that’s what we’re trying to achieve. So I always keep that in mind and use songs to teach the skills you need to learn. By the end of your first month you will Know what everything on your guitar is and does Know how to change and tune your strings Be able to play a major scale Know how to play all of the most common major and minor chords Be learning how to play a song we choose together For intermediate to advanced students: If you are interested in learning more about music theory, advanced scales, soloing/improvisation, songwriting and part writing, I am your teacher. Whether you’re working in a band and would like to develop more musical guitar parts, writing and recording or playing at local open jams, I have plenty to teach you. We will Have a custom tailored plan for strengthening the areas we choose to work on together Learn how to read and transcribe music (or get better at it) Sharpen your improvisation skills using methods and techniques I have honed over the years For everyone: You’ll quickly learn that I’m a pretty easy going and friendly guy. We should get along just fine. It is, however, very important to know one thing going in… Except for family/work/health emergencies I don’t accept any student’s lack of practicing for their lesson. It may sound harsh. And it’s because it is. It’s maybe the only harsh thing about my lessons. I’m far more concerned about your development as a musician than I am about making money, and I want everyone to be clear on that from day one. The financials are important to me, but the personal rewards are far more important. That being said, a situation like that is very rare and typically lessons are extremely fun, challenging and rewarding!
