I have had a strong passion for music ever since I was in elementary school. I started playing guitar at 11 years old, beginning with rock and alternative music. In high school I got into playing jazz and classical, and started my first band that I performed with consistently and wrote songs for. I then went on to study guitar and music performance at Columbia College Chicago, where I learned advanced guitar technique and music theory, and played in several ensembles. I taught guitar lessons for two years at School of Rock Arlington Heights, with students of many different skill levels and interests. I currently play lead guitar in a rock/melodic hardcore band I started in 2018, and have my own instrumental solo project as well. My songwriting has grown significantly through my different projects, using elements and techniques from different genres I've played to create my own unique sound. I also love using guitar effects pedals to experiment when writing and jamming.

Colleen patiently made connections and answered my questions. She does a great job at explaining guitar techniques using music theory. Every lesson was custom and she tailored the lessons to be exactly what I needed. Highly recommend!
