Greetings! I am a professional artist and certified instructor with 10 years of teaching experience working with students of all ages. I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and also hold a masters degree in art education from Boston University. After teaching for eight years in both public and private institutions I now teach privately and work on commissioned projects for clients via my studio, in Missouri (just outside Kansas City).

I teach both drawing and oil painting using a classical method inspired by the famed 19th century European academies. I will take time to discuss your goals and set up a personalized plan designed to take your work to the next level. The key to improvement is clear communication, constructive feedback and the proper sequencing of lessons/assignments. My students of all ages and experience levels have seen dramatic improvement in their work as they begin to understand and incorporate the principles that we discuss.

As far as my own studio work, I enjoy drawing/painting all subjects - specifically figurative/portrait work and landscapes. I stay busy with commissioned projects for both private and corporate clients as well as completing work for exhibitions and both regional/national competitions. I have been blessed to have received numerous awards for my work, including a "Best of Show" at the MVIS National Juried Exhibition, being featured in the Oil Painters of America Online Showcase, purchase awards, multiple awards at plein air competitions, and several others.
