I have been studying the horn for nearly 20 years and have a strong passion for passing on the skill to other young learners. The horn as an instrument is extremely versatile, and can fulfill great joy for those willing to put in the work to discover it!

About Cody R.

My name is Cody and I am originally from Mt. Juliet, TN. I love playing my horn as well as my bodhran (Irish drum). I can't wait to meet and work with you!

My education background began as a Music Education student at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. I earned both a Bachelor of Science in Music Ed and Master of Music in Music Ed from there between 2006-2013. My focus of study for my thesis was the Influence of Irish Immigrants on American Music during the Civil War era.

Beginning in 2011, I started teaching private horn lessons through the Community School for the Arts at APSU as well as freelance lessons. I have also been a brass/music tech with area high schools.

From there, I moved to Ireland for a year and earned a Master of Arts in Ethnomusicology (why we make music!) from the University of Limerick (2013-2014). The degree program is housed in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. I studied the Irish drum, the bodhran, and how it's design has changed through the years since 1960.

In the fall of 2015, I began teaching full time with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, where I teach K-5 music everyday and love it! If you are a new horn player or high school student wanting to get ready for college auditions, I would love to teach you as well!

When scheduling, please be advised my current location is Ashland City, TN and that I am in the Central Time zone.
