Music Major Inkster high school, Inkster Mi. (74-79). Detroit School of Music, Detroit Mi.(80-81). Music Minor Richmond College, Dallas Tx.(Major; Business Computer Programming Associate Degree 86-88). i am currently studying advanced Music Theory, Harmony, Arranging and Composition. Learning to play from a DVD or the internet can not properly teach a beginner bass player, because there should be a student/teacher interaction, one has to already know how to play in order for a DVD to be effective, and i truly believe one will still need an instructor. i enjoy teaching and playing bass. i teach (4 to 6 string), which includes learning to read bass clef notes, scales, chords, keys signatures and time on the music staff, etc., etc., i can teach tab also. i like to teach beginners to give them the correct and formal fingering techniques, then later if they like, they can go all willy nilly. i get satisfactory results. i also love playing guitar and piano, i know these instruments very well and because i want to teach as many as i can to keep real music alive, i also teach beginner guitar and piano, all the above applies to guitar and piano lessons, and music theory and ear training. i like using small i's

Fun, great attitude, amazing knowledge and appreciation of all types of music. Ive let's me know what is going well, what I need to work on, and provides gentle encouragement when it is clear I am not practicing enough to get it right. He has worked with top professionals, so he knows the theory, the music, the lifestyle and the connections. He has a great laugh.
I am a teacher (science) and I appreciate a professional yet fun approach.
I might not ever be famous, but I am having fun learning to play, and I see progress.
Ive is a fantastic instructor because he works at your own pace and talks with you rather than at you. I don't feel dumb when I am learning information I hadn't known before, but instead he helps me feel like he is simply sharing his knowledge so that I can fully understand it, regardless of how complex it may initially seem. His prices are great and he's a great person. I highly recommend him if you are looking to learn an instrument!Show More
Got a good lessen in the fundamentals.
Hes encouraging and if you have the perseverance to stick with it you'll be playing sooner than you would think.
Ivan, ( Mr.Williams) knows his stuff. He has a structured format which is detailed. If a person listens to and practices his exercises, they will become a knowledgeable player of the guitar.
This dude is awesome. He really knows his theory and he definitely won't waste your time. Such a fun guy too. Highly recommended.
I purchased lessons for my husband. After my husband first lesson he came home with very positive reviews and actually said that he is looking forward to his next lesson with Ivan. He shared that Ivan is very patient and knowledgeable and he feels that we made the right choice in selecting Ivan as his instructor.Show More
I was thrilled with my first lesson with Ivan. He is knowledgeable, personable, and inspires confidence. Consequently, I am confident that if I follow his instruction and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, I will achieve the results I desire.
Ivan is a great tutor! He really helped me get a better understanding of music theory and also helped me improve my understanding of playing music on the piano overall. I used to take lessons at Axis Music Academy, which is a really well respected music learning institution. However, my instructor there focused more on getting me through the lessons then making sure I understood what was going on. I choose to continue my lessons with Ivan because I see my music comprehension growing and I feel that he knows exactly how to teach you to make sure you understand what your doing.Show More
I've only had a few lessons, but I'm already impressed with his knowledge and teaching technique.
