*******I have Available Times for online classes**************
My training started when I was very young, age 7, with piano lessons. Since then, I have been playing music my whole life, and I love it! I received my Bachelor's in Music Performance 2001, and I received my Master's in Music Education in 2018. I am currently looking for students for my private studio for ages 5 - 75, violin, viola, cello, and beginner piano!
I take very young students, ages 5 -7, on violin only, and I would love to get more of the little ones interested in music! Lessons are a great "mommy and me time", a great way to spend time with your child! I have found lots of success with this age group, by using a curriculum that I have developed based on the Suzuki and Pascale method for kinder violin. Although I am not Suzuki certified, I use concepts and materials taken from the master teacher, Suzuki as well as Guillamian technique developed for your children through the Pascale Method. From studying his philosophy and principals through research, I have found Suzuki's method to be a very holistic and "easy-to-understand" for young ages.
For adult students, I have found success teaching a curriculum that just lets you play music and develop a love for your instrument. I mainly teach adults using lots of music from pop tunes, holiday music, fiddle and Americana music. My curriculum for adults is more about making music and less about playing scales and etudes, although focus on technique is integrated within the type of music books we use.
I also teach high school, middle school and elementary school students, all instruments, violin, viola, and cello, with a classic approach.
Students excel at a very high level with training in scales, etudes, standard repertoire, and school orchestra music. This group will be asked to study music with the intention of performing at 2 recitals per year, as well as attendance at their school orchestra programs, solo and ensemble competition, and Texas UIL events. Please inquire about training for this age group in person.
*** Lesson Details ***
Beginner lessons are great fun! Watch how the instrument turns into clay that molds to your hand, your musical talent. I love to see the amazement in the student when they realize playing a musical instrument is not as difficult as it may look. Each subsequent lesson is a building process, building upon the foundation from the previous lesson. It is imperative that students practice! Practice whenever you get a chance, even a little bit goes a long way. Pick up the violin for ten minutes while you wait for the meal to cook in the evening or waiting for the laundry to finish. Then, find some time to sit quietly in a comfortable space and focus just on the tone and quality of your playing.
*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Specialties ***
There is a winter recital and a spring recital held each year to teach performing technique and showcasing talent. This is always great fun and very rewarding! Performing is a learned skill and every opportunity is provided to teach performing with success!
Plus, I'm really excited about my adult students, who are "up and coming" artists! I offer an adult ensemble for those who want to play for the sake of playing a musical instrument with others! Please inquire about the adult group, even if you have just a little bit of interest in learning the fantastic violin, viola, cello, or piano! Go for it! It is great fun!

Thorough and clear instruction. Excellent teacher! Five Stars!

Clare is a wonderful music teacher- She has a tremendous amount of patience, especially when working with beginners, such as my son. Her technique on teaching the violin is stellar- I would reccommend Clare to anyone who has an interest in playing violin-

If you're someone who is new to music and looking for the right teacher, give Clare a call.
I've recently had the pleasure of taking violin lessons with Clare for eight months. I am an adult violin student and before I took lessons from Clare I had virtually zero previous musical training. Clare was the perfect teacher for me. She kept me interested and motivated to learn. Her lessons were well thought-out, well taught and, just as importantly, they were just plain fun. Because of Clare I feel like I have an excellent foundation from which to continue my learning. If I wasn't moving away because of a new job I would definitely still be taking lessons from her.
As an adult, I was kind of nervous to start learning a musical instrument, especially one as tricky as the violin. Clare helped me immensely. She's a wonderful teacher.
