I am a versatile performer and educator who engages audiences with performances in solo, chamber music, and orchestral settings throughout the greater San Diego area. I was recently appointed Adjunct Professor of Oboe at the University of San Diego and have served as an oboist with Navy Band Southwest since 2017. I completed a doctorate in Oboe Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Texas at Austin in 2016, where I served as the Oboe Studio Teaching Assistant. I perform as a substitute musician with the San Diego Symphony and frequently appear with the California Chamber Orchestra and Strauss Symphony of America. I have also performed with the New World Symphony, Austin Symphony, and the West Point Band. Outside of music I enjoy CrossFit, running marathons, and cooking adventurous meals with my family.

Clara was such an invaluable teacher for our beginning oboe student in middle school. Her easy ability to teach technique on such a complicated instrument was so important. Our daughter quickly gained confidence and skill and now has such beautiful sound as a sophomore. We highly recommend Ms. Blood for a great start!
Amazing, fun, and encouraging! I had a great first lesson
Clara taught oboe to my middle schooler from 6th to 8th grade. He had no experience and she had him playing in school recitals, the jazz band, and UIL competitions! Oboe is hard and takes work to make progress. Clara is patient and gets along great with students and parents! we saw her perform a few times and it was amazing!!!
