Broadway Singing with Claire M.

I am a music major in vocal performance at the University of St. Thomas in Houston and just finished my junior year. I love singing and sharing the gift of music with others! I believe that a healthy voice should be able to sing a variety of different styles. I have a wide range of performance experience. I am a soprano in the University Singers, which puts on high-quality sacred music performances every semester with motets, anthems and hymns from all time periods but specializes in the Anglican choral tradition. I also sing solo and group numbers every semester in the pop show, which focuses on rep from classic jazz and broadway, and the opera workshop and scenes program which puts on several scenes from opera and musical theater with sets and costumes. I have sung soprano with Chorus Angelorum, based at Our Lady of Walsingham cathedral, and have also sung several other church gigs in the Greater Houston area. While at home in North Texas, i cantor at St. Michael's Catholic Church in McKinney. For a year I sang Gregorian chant with Schola Cantorum on campus. In my private studio lessons, I work on a variety of art songs and arias in English, German, Italian, and French. I perform this rep at studio classes with my fellow students and in music at midday performances open to the whole campus. I have completed four semesters of music theory, am piano proficient, am familiar with the International Phonetic Alphabet, and completed a course on vocal anatomy and pedagogy during which I taught a fellow student for 8 weeks.
