Hello! I am Harvard grad with a degree in Psychology and Music. I have many years of experience in songwriting, choral singing, jazz voice, improvised music, and extended vocal technique. I have won numerous Student Music Awards from Downbeat Magazine and participated in prestigious jazz programs such as the Grammy Jazz Session, Banff Workshop for Jazz and Creative Music, the Siena Jazz Workshop, and YoungArts. I have performed at Symphony Hall with the Boston Pops as a Fidelity Young Artists Competition Grand Prize Winner, the Kennedy Center as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and the Monterey Jazz Festival with the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra.
I am excited to work with you on developing yourself as a jazz vocalist, a better songwriter, a confident performer, and a healthier singer.
My teaching practice is guided by some of my most influential teachers: Vijay Iyer, Esperanza Spalding, Theo Bleckmann, and Claire Chase. I emphasize technique as a way to develop healthy singing habits that also serve the singer creatively. I aim to let students interests lead the direction of lessons, while also broadening their perspectives on what is possible for them musically. For me and my students, building confidence and skill goes hand in hand with having fun.
Claire is a phenomenal singer and teacher. Her approach to teaching has helped me develop both technique and musicality beyond what I thought I was capable of, in a supportive, warm, and all-around helpful environment. Highly recommend!!!
Claire brings a passion and positivity that is contagious. Not only is she knowledgeable and talented, but her energy makes learning about voice a pleasure. She utilizes an individualized approach in which the student is the focus. I cannot recommend her enough!Show More
Claire is not only an incredibly warm, funny, and all-around lovely person, but one of the most talented and technically aware singers that I've ever met. Her multiple years of experience and natural intuition, as well as the breadth of resources she's gained from studying with singers like Theo Bleckmann, make her an eye-opening and generous teacher. Singing with her helped me drastically improve my technique and gain confidence.Show More
Claire was gentle with my voice and body, but also helped me to challenge myself beyond what I thought my voice was capable of!
Claire is an awesome vocalist and teacher. She is patient, knowledgeable, skilled, and fun! She helped me tremendously with sight singing, and shared technical exercises that enhanced my vocal health and opened up my singing voice.
