    About Claire A.

I have been a professional instructor at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute with a concentration in Method Acting. I additionally hold a Bachelors Degree in Voice from the Manhattan School of Music, and have 24 years experience as a pianist and cellist. With regards to Acting, I approach my coachings with students on a structured set of intervals, beginning with getting to know and use your instrument (yourself) before we begin heavy in-depth analysis of text, character inner (and outer) life, as well as beatwork and scene study. Coachings, I view, are fundamentally going to help you grow at a pace that will most be beneficial to you and allow you great ease and flexibility on stage or film. I approach voice in a similar manner, as the instrument will need to be nurtured, stretched and guided as we move through set scales, phrasings and volume. The voice also develops at a vastly diffetent rate than any other physical instrument, and so, we want to approach said teachings with utmost care, patience and ideology that the more time passes, the more can develop. With Cello and Piano, workbooks with note and sheet music exercises will be provided. This aims to help with fingering memorization, phrasings, dynamics, and overall structure of a piece. Workbooks can also lend themselves to a deeper knowledge of scales, key signatures and basic music theory that should always be applied to all music. Like with all my,coachings, I recommend the use of an audio recorder and/or notebook to write down a detailed summary of what was worked on and achieved during our session! :)
