About Cinti L.

Cinti Laird started teaching organically as a result of being a professional actress in Children's Theater in New York City. As a Teaching Artist she traveled locally performing live educational shows in elementary schools. Following the tour Cinti was asked to teach in a classroom set up on a NYC site of the producing corporation. There she taught bus loads of children some of whom had seen her perform on stage.

Cinti later became a teaching artist for Arts Horizons, the Harlem School of the Arts and various NYC public schools. She has also been a substitute teacher for students PK-21, and worked full time with special needs children at a Bronx based school for the blind. Cinti continued teaching Acting students of all ages, giving back in community at the American Federation of Radio & Television Artists in their NYC based Stanley Green room. She became a Key Student to both Earle Hyman and Edith Meeks at HB Studio where she continued developing as an actress and singer for years after graduating NYU.

As a public speaker, Cinti improved her skills with Toastmasters International. She incorporates her comedic skills into many of her speeches bringing laughter to many.

Her knowledge of the English Language is extensive and she has demonstrated working as a freelance writer for various NYC publications. Laird is an accomplished writer, produced playwright and skilled interviewer. Samples of her writing can be found on-line.

Ms. Laird is a graduate of the New York University Tisch School of Arts with a concentration in Film & Television - the host and creator of Cinti's Comedy Pageant and she is also a TEFL (ESOL) Certified English Teacher. She looks forward to teaching English now and later adding Acting Performance and comedy writing classes on this platform.

Host for TEFL & ESOL Students from around the world
Aug 2011 - Jan 2015

International House

In 2011, I was again invited to become a host for International House students coming to Manhattan, NYC to study (TEFL/ESOL) English. It was my entry into the world of home stays. Through exchanges with ESL students I learned a lot about them, their countries, traditions and had a tremendous amount of fun hosting. When you host an International Student, learning becomes a shared experience. There is a lot of laughter centered around how you butcher each others languages because interpretations can be far off from what is intended to be communicated based on a slight difference in pronunciation. Sharing cultural traditions around holidays is fascinating and enjoyable as well as going out to a museum, a restaurant, an event or artists gallery opening. Each outing - even a simple walk in the park or a visit to the grocer presented opportunities to share the English words to describe and discuss what we were doing. During that time I was working hard at being a working actor, writing, producing and directing live theatre, making speeches and performing comedy in NY made it all a good fit. My students were at least 21. I've been traveling lately - fulfilling my bucket list to see the USA before going abroad again, and find that I can continue to enjoy interaction and sharing my culture with ESL students via the internet and Take Lessons. I look forward to spending time with you and helping you discover your English voice.

Hosting International TEFL/ESOL
Jun 2009 - Aug 2012

Zoni Language Centers

Initially in June of 2009 I was invited to host International Students coming to America to study English at Zoni Language Centers. Staying on with me in my Midtown Manhattan apartment was a part of the English Immersion process. I had great fun with Zoni Students. Showing them around New York, sharing the culture and fantastic events while speaking constantly and consistently in English helped them improve their conversational English. I made many friends who came to study at Zoni whom are still speaking English somewhere in the world today. Some went on the study at University in America while others returned to their home countries to work or get married.
