I have taken lessons from Cindy for two years now. She is great with getting rid of my bad habbits and wrong techniques that my previous teacher did not care to correct. I appreciate her patience and effort very much. I noticed all her other students play very well in recital as well. I only wish I had her as my piano teacher many years earlier.

Cindy is amazing. She was patient and knew exactly how to work with Elijah (who's 3) to make his first piano lesson a joy. I may have even shed a tear watching the two of them play together ;)

My granddaughter has been taking lessons with Miss Cindy for approx. 1 year.
Her first performance (recital), she got a superior rating and was highly encouraged to continue. This performance was held at UNLV and she received no points, I think because she wasn't yet eligible for points. She had not been playing very long.
Her second was held at same location was the NFMC Junior Festival on 3/07/15. She again received a superior rating, with more encouragement. This one, she did receive points. I'm still not sure how that works. I'm always just so happy to hear her and Miss Cindy play together!
I attribute all of this to Miss Cindy and her wonderful understanding not only of the piano, but of how to teach young children. And I believe she tailors all lessons to that particular child's needs and wants. Miss Cindy makes the lessons incredibly fun and is so very gentle with constructive criticism, that my granddaughter really wants to do her very best every time. And, she understands how very important it is to practice because she aspires to play as well as her teacher!
She can't wait to go to her lessons, and can't wait to show the family what she has learned.
Honestly (I play myself), if you are looking for a classical piano teacher, Cindy Jihyun L. should be your first choice. Even if it's a bit more of a drive than you want, Miss Cindy is the epitome of a Classical Pianist! She is well worth the time, and so worth the cost of lessons.
Here's the trick. Make sure your child practices, and that it isn't drudgery. Don't choose the piano for your child. Let your child choose the piano. And choose this teacher. I promise, you'll be glad you did.

Because of my lessons with Cindy J over the past 6 months, I was able to perform in a recital and play 3 pieces! This is really a first for me, even though I've been playing many years. She really gave me the confidence and the skills to make this happen and I loved it.

She is excellent and teaching a student how to "feel" the music and make it meaningful. I get so much more joy and satisfaction from my playing than I ever have before.

I have recently started lessons with Cindy after a long time without a teacher. I've been playing as an adult 14 years and have had many teachers. Cindy is by far the best I've ever had!

She is showing me new things so quickly which are making a huge difference in how my pieces sound, so that is very motivating. She is able to explain very clearly exactly how I can do something differently and then show me how.

Her knowledge of classical music is amazing. She is also able to play anything and use her own playing to demonstrate not only what I should do, but the different sounds one can produce by using different techniques.

She is truly a master, and I feel so lucky to have found her! I am having a wonderful time, and enjoying my piano so much more with her lessons.

My daughter, Imojinn, had her fantastic first piano experience with Miss Cindy. Her teaching style was fun and encouraging. She was very sensitive to how much learning Imojinn could handle each week. My daughter looked forward to her piano lesson each week so much so that she also took voice lessons from Miss Cindy. We miss Miss Cindy very much!

I highly recommend her both for piano and voice lessons.

I had Cindy for my daughter's teacher for two years from 6 to 8 years old. My daughter Mai started taking piano lessons at age of 4, and when it was time to shift from "just for fun piano" to more serious learning, we went to see Cindy.
It is hard to describe how wonderful she was in this small space. She was nice and sweet, but she never was easy on teaching.
Cindy's explanation was clear and full of information. She will breakdown the theory into easy terms so that young children can understand, with a lot of examples. You can tell from that that she has firm background and knowledge in the area. She explained to Mai, who was only 6 and was a English-learner, with patience over and over. She would answer to any small question from Mai or even from me (have no musical experience) which was very helpful.
Her instruction was in detail and precise, will carefully go over step by step. She will take plenty of time to master each part. She gives a lot of hints for interpretation too. Those small stories of the pieces or the composers that Cindy would tell was very interesting, and helped Mai's imagination to expand.
Sometimes she drew on her notebook to explain the idea and that visualization would help Mai's understanding greatly.
Also she gave many advice and correction to the physical movement. Again with good explanation and demonstration.
Taking piano lesson is not easy and it sure do involve a lot of commitment, but I have to say it was worth doing it with Cindy. I would highly recommend her for any future pianists!!
