I love music, and I love helping other people find and develop their love for music! I teach all styles of violin (including fiddle) and piano to ages 4 and up, with a strong emphasis on finding what kind of music each student enjoys and building a life-long love of music with solid technical foundations. I hold a BM in violin performance from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, and am a certified Suzuki violin teacher, registered with the SAA. As a performer, I love to play fiddle music and to explore new styles, and I bring that same enthusiasm for learning new styles and methods of teaching to all my lessons. Around town, I can be found performing with Irish folk trio Avourneen, Classical crossover group Nexus Strings, and a variety of other projects ranging from rock and pop studio recording to orchestral playing and collaborative piano. I am excited to be able to bring this diverse experience to my teaching, and hope you will give me the opportunity to work with you or your child! *** Lesson Details *** The focus in lessons is always on what you want to learn, keeping things fun and personalized without sacrificing teaching great technique that will allow years of playing with ease. What this concretely means is that, at the first lesson, I will sit down with you and/or your child and assess what it is you want to get out of music lessons in order to come up with a lesson plan tailored to exactly what you want to be learning. I believe that when students are inspired and engaged in lessons, practice and progress grow naturally out of the environment!
