As an accomplished vocalist, my passion is to invite listeners into a journey through song. I have obtained a Doctor of Musical Arts from The Catholic University of America, a Graduate Performance Diploma from Peabody Institute, a Master of Fine Arts from Thunghai University and a Bachelors of the Fine Arts from Taipei National University of the Arts. My background includes performances in leading roles with well-known orchestras and conservatories, including the Peabody Conservatory and Peabody Symphony Orchestra in Baltimore, Maryland; the Bel Cantanti Opera Company in Silver Spring, Maryland; and Taiwan’s National Symphony Orchestra. In each role, I have been known as a collaborative, hardworking vocalist who is dedicated to delivering performances that are loyal to how the original composer created them. I enjoy digging into the nuances of the music and the history behind each piece to better inform my performances. For my vocal students, I start with vocal exercises every lesson and allow them learn to vocal techniques through different vocal exercises. Then I work with my students on the repertoire that they are interested in or repertoire that can help them practice their weak spots. For my piano students, I use many different series (Alfred's, Faber, or some classic repertoire) depending on their level and age. For all students, I will also include music theory when I teach because the students will have a stronger foundation with all of these components, which will enable them to learn better, faster and even by their own. I like to teach them "how to fish" instead of "giving them the fish." When they have an upcoming performance, I will help them not only to prepare the repertoire and but also tricks to be better prepared for the performance so they can be confident, enjoy it, and excel at it! Having relocated several times, I also offer extensive cross-cultural experience, which has only given me a deeper understanding of the music I sing. With my most recent move to Virginia, I am eager to build relationships with others in the industry, as well as with potential students looking to not only improve their musical abilities, but also increase their love of music.
