Hello future collaborator. I started acting when I was 13 in middle school. Since then I studied at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, received my BA in Theatre from Saint Louis University, and my MFA in Acting: The British Tradition from the Birmingham School of Acting in the United Kingdom. I have performed consistently in schools, community, and professional theatre. With teaching, I first look for what the actor offers the material, or what they'd like to say, and bring that forward. I emphasize concentration, study, and discipline to promote storytelling, and then bringing the character to life. My approach utilizes methods from Shakespearean acting as well as Boleslavski, Chekhov, Laban, and Stanislavsky. I also do vocal exercises from Cicely Berry, Kristin Linklater, and Patsy Rodenburg. Also lots, and LOTS of Improv! I am your guide in bringing your role to life. You come prepared, but I make you ready.

    Experience

    Teacher

    Jan, 2013 - Feb, 2014

    Hollywood Kids Academy

I began as an assistant teacher/director for "The Little Mermaid, Jr." and then was a co-director/teacher for "Annie, Jr." and "Aladdin, Jr." I taught students from ages ranged 7 to 18 in different age grouped productions. I emphasized storytelling, character building, and self-awareness. I'm still in touch with parents and former teachers of this organization.

    Shakespeare Teacher

    Mar, 2015 - Apr, 2015

    Nevada Arts Academy

For two months I was given an acting class for students ages 6 to 10. We began doing vocal and physical exercises and looked at various text, but then I started teaching from A Midsummer Night's Dream. The students, who had never read Shakespeare before (my youngest couldn't read), began easily taking to the text. We ended up performing two scenes in front of parents, one in prose and one in verse. They handled text better than most professionals with strong character choices.

    Director

    Jun, 2014 - Aug, 2015

    Nevada Arts Academy

I helped develop a summer theatre camp where my students performed "The Jungle Book, Kids" in the summer of 2014 and "101 Dalmatians" in the summer of 2015. I had, on average, 8 students, some as young as 4, that had no theatrical background or training. By the time performance came around my students owned the stage, stayed in character, were responsible for their own entrances and exits, and still had fun. It was a lot of fun to work with these students.
