    About Christopher H.

I am a professional operatic tenor. I graduated from the Westminster Choir College of Princeton, NJ with a Master of Music in Voice Performance and Pedagogy. Professionally, in recent years I have performed with Opera Idaho, the Texas Music Festival (Houston), Arezzo Opera Festival (Italy), Caramoor (NYC), the New York City Opera, and Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. In addition to my performing, I have completed extensive studies in voice science and voice pedagogy. I strongly believe in fact-based teaching, that is understanding how the body and voice work together to produce singing, helping students understand how the voice actually works, and, most importantly, how good singing feels in their own body. My training in voice pedagogy also enables me to effectively teach students in various vocal styles. I specialize in classical/operatic voice and musical theater voice. These styles require a different vocal technique, and I will guide you through building an effective technique for the style of music you aspire to sing. I have a an extensive vocal music library and will assign students repertoire geared towards building the voice and helping them best represent themselves in performances and auditions. Current students have sung leading roles in school/community musicals, been accepted into distinguished summer programs, given full recitals, and pursued college studies in music. Regular lessons are essential for student growth and success. For this reason, I fairly price my lessons so students can study regularly to achieve optimum vocal development. Voice lessons over Skype are just as effective as in person. The added benefit of Skype lessons are the flexibility of student and teacher to work over long distance. For lessons, all the student needs is a laptop with webcam, and access to a printer to print assigned repertoire and vocalises. I teach over Skype from my piano and will vocalize you and teach just as I would in an in-person setting
