Perform - Create - Build a solid foundation in music while gaining confidence, leadership, and flexibility. *** NEW POLICIES *** I'm currently only taking students that can commit to weekly lessons. I no longer allow 24-hr cancellations, which is a policy Takelessons promotes, but I don't find it useful for the teacher or the student. If you'll be out of town, I allow 4 cancellations per year. I also take off these dates: July 4, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, and December 24 - January 1. If you need to reschedule for another reason, I will try to find another time during that week for your lesson, but if it's an exceptionally busy week I may not be able to find a time-slot. You will still be obligated to pay for the lesson. *** Bio *** I have an MFA in Music Composition and Piano Performance from California Institute of the Arts and a BA in Music Composition from UC Santa Barbara. I began piano at the age of 7 and composition at age 15. Teaching has always been important to me. I started providing lessons in high school and learned that giving musical knowledge is just as important as acquiring the skills it takes to be a musician. Studying with me will help you become a well-rounded musician with the ability to play the type of music you want to play. Constantly composing, film scoring, and performing, I'm a very active musician that works with classical musicians, rock musicians, and everything in between. I teach a variety of instruments and will cater lessons to your styles and interests. I'm also a recording artist and work with music software such as Ableton Live, Native Instruments, and Sibelius. I would love to teach you how to compose and record your own music in whichever genre you prefer. *** Lesson Details *** Many of my students have studied music in the past, but weren't able to keep the passion. I pride myself as a very enthusiastic teacher that works hard at making lessons fun and interesting for any age and background. All of my students (from 3 years old to 60 years old) enjoy music and practice very hard. You will be provided with a solid foundation in theory, aural skills, technique, and creativity, giving you the ability to carve your own path in music. You will learn the correct way to play your instrument and develop the intuition to command it expressively.

I've been studying ukulele with Chris for a year and a half now. I went from absolutely no background in music to really being able to play the instrument pretty quickly. Chris has the patience of Job and a real ability to explain music and playing technique in a way that is incredibly easy to understand. I learn something new every week and he can teach as quickly or as slowly as I want to learn that week. If he can teach me to play, he can teach you to play!

I've learned SO much, even after my first lesson with Christoffer. He's exceedingly patient and encouraging and always finds a way to explain things in a way that make sense. Can't recommend more highly.
