Discover and love your speaking voice with an UK MFA-trained Actor specializing in voice work

I believe our voice cannot lie. If we're nervous or if we don't like how our voice sound, our voice will let it be known. I have spent most of my life nervous and quite embarrassed about my voice. My approach to acquiring flexibility in the voice and discovering your own unique voice starts with meeting where our emotional life intersects with our physical life. It's all connected and we can start wherever you feel comfortable. I usually start from the physical body, we'll move around a bit in your own space (if you are comfortable) before we get into text work. With my acting training, I can provide games and other self practices that can help you understand your unique voice and to allow yourself to gain confidence in your sound whether in a public speaking event or interpersonally, in a job interview. Be proud of your voice.

    About Christine L.

Hiya! My name is Christine and I'm a Speaking Voice teacher. I graduated with an Acting degree from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the UK where I fell in love with the voice. I had always been quite dissatisfied with my speaking voice -- comparing it to others, not liking its pitch, etc. But during my time in drama school, I discovered why my voice is the way it is (unearthing personal history and traumas), working in a very physical way to create elasticity and flexibility in my voice (fun and sometimes foolish exercises that will definitely make you chuckle), and ultimately falling in love with my voice and what it can do (I've voiced children aged 5 to grannies aged 70). These tools I've gained to unlock my own voice has made me realize how much it would benefit humans to understand and love their own voice. We use our voice for everything but if we want to bring it into a work environment, we use our voice in meetings, presentations, job interviews. To sit confidently in your voice means to sit confidently in yourself and that is the key to owning a room. Our voices don't lie, our voices are a door into our heart and our mind. Let's go on this (honestly quite emotional and surprising) journey to owning your unique voice together!
