From Opera to Musical Theatre, and Rock to Pop, I've been performing professionally for 7 years and teaching consecutively for 4 years! My teaching style is patient yet fun while always "getting the job done" for each individual's circumstances and goals. I have taught a variety of styles, ages (6 to 80!), and people from varying backgrounds (beginners to advanced). The voice is an amazingly flexible and versatile instrument, and I love seeing each student's "light bulb" moments, while always maintaining a level of humor and seriousness in each lesson. My training and degrees from both San Jose State University and The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (LA and NY) not only gave me the tools to be an all-around performer, but also a well-trained educator, too. I try to keep my lessons affordable and ALWAYS fun and educational. Try out a lesson and see if we're a fit! *** Lesson Details *** I love to focus on technique, language/diction, phrasing and interpretation, creating and enhancing a high-level of musicianship at all times (starting from beginner to advanced). We will first begin with a comfortable stretch and vocal warm up (yes, you may be doing some silly things!) and transition into repertoire (I will suggest pieces based on the style(s) desired, or the student can bring in their own selections). Students that are preparing for auditions (or would like to someday) will be able to discuss rep and run rep (an accompanist is available an additional fee). As the student grows, the warm-ups will intensify in difficulty and repertoire will become increasingly more demanding (never exceeding the student's abilities, but always with a gentle push/challenge). *** Studio Equipment *** Upright piano. *** Travel Equipment *** Student's home (if a "Go-To") must have a piano/keyboard and CD/media player if they plan to sing along to a track. If a student comes to me, a piano is provided. *** Specialties *** Opera (Classical), Musical Theatre (Broadway), etc.
