Learn Viola with a passionate Music Educator

Musicking is meant for everyone - let's get started! My name is Christina Sack. I'm a 4th-year student of Music Education at the University of Connecticut. I love to give violin lessons that are completely personalized to YOU. Regardless of whether you are a complete beginner, would like tips on a specific technique, need a mock audition judge, want to improve your ear, you name it - I'm excited to meet you where you are at and point you in the right direction for success. Fundamental to playing any genre of music is a firm foundation in technique. Students can expect to receive positive and constructive feedback about their performance in each lesson, along with demonstrations and practical suggestions for further practice. If you have a particular method of study that you wish to pursue or a book that you would like to use (Suzuki, Essential Elements, O'Connor, etc), I'm glad to work with you within your method of choice. If you don't have one, that's also fine - I'm happy to suggest one that fits your needs or create a custom learning sequence. Fundamental to learning is an open and engaging relationship between teacher and student. During lessons, students can expect flexibility, patience, accommodation, and a genuine dedication to their success. I encourage you to bring any questions, passions, and curiosities you might have to our lessons so I can support you as a whole student, not just as a violinist! For more information about my background, see below. I can't wait to work with you!

    About Christina S.

I'm a 4th-year student of Music Education at the University of Connecticut. I'm a collegiate-level violinist and pianist (12+ years of training on both!), with much experience on the viola as well as with voice. I'm classically trained but my performance experience has widened my worldview. From performing with The Piano Guys to The Rustic Ramblers, from Les Miserable to Into the Woods, from worship music to electric fiddling, I've had the opportunity to learn from musicians of various genres. Regardless of what genre you'd like to pursue, a firm foundation in technique is necessary and I'm more than happy to help you get there. I have been teaching private violin, viola and piano lessons of ALL levels since 2017, in-person and online. I've also had the pleasure of serving as Resident Conductor of the University of Connecticut Chamber Orchestra as well as Assistant Director of the Southington Festival Chorale. For the past two years, I have been student-teaching part time in elementary, middle and high schools across Connecticut, giving me the opportunity to work with diverse, incredible groups of students. If you have any questions about the areas of music theory, composing/arranging/songwriting, aural skills or conducting, I'd be so glad to mentor you and share my experiences. My favorite thing is to build relationships with students and support the whole musician, the whole person, not just the violinist within them. Regardless of where you're at in your musical journey, don't be shy - let's work together as a team to help you reach your musical goals! NOTE: Currently I'm offering only online Violin and Viola lessons due to lack of piano in my current location - will return to giving online piano lessons very soon! Stay tuned.
