Levels taught:
Beginner, Intermediate, AdvancedOne of the most versatile styles of guitar and one of the most fun styles to teach as there are near endless ways to play.
Things that I focus on start out with simple chord knowledge including voicing and progressions, and simple scale work. If the student is interested, I usually move into the more complex variety of mixing different scales and chords for a more colorful sound.
Heavy emphasis on improvisation at all levels.
About Christian L.
My name is Christian L. and I am a 29 year old guitar/music instructor in the Orlando area. My interest in guitar began when I was 12 years old and blossomed into a full time obsession about 3 years later when I started playing small gigs as a solo guitarist playing simple jazz and classical pieces for small art clubs and events. Alongside gigging, I also began teaching guitar, ear training, and music theory when I turned 18 and have been teaching full time ever since. During that time I also spent 4 years in music school for classical guitar. Currently I spend my time teaching, recording, and performing various styles including rock, jazz, pop, hip-hop, musical theater, metal, and country.
Throughout the 8 years I have been an instructor I believe I have refined my teaching style to be as versatile as possible to accommodate any learning style a student may have. I am capable of teaching all styles of guitar at any skill level with an emphasis on ear training and general knowledge of guitar techniques.
Slight disclaimer in regards to lesson length, price, and student interest:
I have a teaching structure that I find to be quite rewarding for myself and the students I have had. My lessons do not have a maximum time limit, meaning a lesson could go for 2 hours, if that is what the student wanted, for the same price as a 45 min lesson.
This may sound strange in that I would be losing out on a large amount of potential money but the simple answer is this: I love music and guitar as well as teaching music and guitar. If we are in the middle of a great topic that you, the student, are really interested in, there is no way that I am simply going to stop talking about it when the "timer" stops and there is no way I am going to charge you more for getting into a topic you want to learn.
I find that students who spend more time in the lessons tend to become more interested in guitar and thus, better at playing. I do have to instill a minimum time limit of 45 mins however, any less is honestly just not enough time to get anything worth while accomplished.
One last thing, music and guitar have made up the majority of my daily routine for the past 10 or so years and have literally paid for everything that I currently own as I have never had any other type of job. What this means is that I take the craft very seriously and I project that in the lessons. Basically, if you are genuinely interested in learning guitar and music at any skill level, I will show you everything I possibly can to let you meet your goals. However, if you do not take it seriously, as in you don't pick up or even think about the guitar except for lesson days, the lessons may quickly feel pointless.

Christian is great. Excellent communication and knowledge of the guitar. Most importantly, his enthusiasm for the guitar is infectious. I'm very much looking forward to my next lesson. Highly recommended.

A teacher of this caliber comes around once in a blue moon. His knowledge of the guitar and music is vast and he knows how to pass that on simply and effectively. He can take you where you want to go musically if you have the dedication. My creative potential has expanded beyond what I thought was possible. I am beginning to have a real experience of myself as a musician and the unfolding of my own music through the insight of his teachings. I definitely recommend learning from him!

Christian was super helpful and helped me get a better idea of how i want to learn. Thanks so much!

Christian is not only a talented musician, but he is also a true guitar teacher. So far, I have taken 4 classes and I've learned more with his methods than any other way. I've had tried from the Fender Play app, YouTube videos, to other instructors, but nothing compares to his teachings. He is patient and truly pays attention to what I am struggling with. He breaks everything down piece by piece. If one way doesn't work, he tries a different way until I understand. As mentioned before, he is a gifted teacher. One thing is to be a great guitar player who teaches how to play a few chords, and another is to be a great guitar player who puts him/herself in the student's shoes and help them progress with each lesson. He is one of a kind. Thanks, Christian!

Christian was beyond what I have expected and look forward to our next sessions ...great teacher and took time to show and explain the correct way of playing

Lessons with Christian have been very informative and fun. He is not only a talented player, but knowledgeable regarding music theory. Most importantly, he has the ability to teach and communicate concepts and and content in practical ways that are beneficial to the student.
He has been proactive, supportive and will go beyond time constraint in order to take advantage of the moment and accomplish the goal of each lesson.
So far, a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

Wow wow wow. I had my first lesson with Christian, and he absolutely blew me away. Super talented musician. He has such a wealth of knowledge of the fretboard, musical theory, and different genres. I am into prog rock/metal and blues. I’ve never taken lessons before, and do not know scales or many chords, and christian identified exactly where to start off. He broke it down to a science and completely demystified the guitar. In small bite sized chunks we went for over two hours. It was a proper class with 1 on 1 personal attention. He is approachable with any question, and helps you understand the WHY of things, not just how to do something, which gives you such a stronger foundation to build off. I cannot wait for the next session.

amazing teacher. I couldn't recommend more highly

Christian is an AMAZING musician. He has a wide range of knowledge and can play in almost any genre. Will definitely be taking lessons again!

To be honest, I wouldn't know exactly where to begin to write this review so I am going to just speak from the heart - and a little bit of experience. I started with Christian about a month ago. I held off leaving a review because a good teacher of anything shows they are good by also showing how they build off what what they are teaching and how the student reacts to what he/she is being taught.
I can honestly say that Christian has exceeded my expectations, but it might be for the non-musical aspect that he has. As far as ability goes, just watch his videos and you will see he knows much more than necessary to teach anyone else how to play. However, what makes Christian so great at teaching is that he doesn't translate that ability into unreasonable expectations for his students. He realizes the personal nature of music and will help the student achieve their own personal goals and even more, if the student wishes to do so and puts in the practice and effort of learning.
He has been very good at building on what he has previously taught. Christian has also given much attention to where I seem to connect with music, which is personal only to me. I don't connect to music the same as he does. He knows that and makes an effort to see music from the way I am seeing it, at least he does that during our time in the studio together. This helps each student be the best that THEY can be. This is what a good teacher does. A great teacher also, with time, slowly makes himself obsolete. He teaches the student to figure out how to teach themselves. Christian does this as well. It is not his intention to lose students. But he absolutely wants me to see WHY I am doing what I am doing so I can apply that theory to other aspects of the guitar ON MY OWN.
So, I am not saying he is the best teacher out there. "Best" is a funny word anyway. What I am saying is: Christian will help you be as good as you can possibly be within the realm that you want to be in, as long as you want to actually learn the instrument fully by putting in the work -- work is always necessary.
So I should also mention that I am a song writer and a piano player, and have been for over 20 years. That is why I can say I am speaking from experience. I have had instructors before. I know what it is like and I know what to look for. You can't go wrong with Christian, if you are really looking to learn how to play the guitar and get the most out of your dedication to the instrument.

I have never played guitar before and Christian is a very helpful and informative teacher. He has helped me understand more about music along with learning guitar. He is very well educated and will help you learn the proper way to play a guitar.

Christian is a patient, enthusiastic teacher. LOVED these lessons!

Great first lesson. Christian knows his stuff and helped me grasp a few concepts in one lesson that I've failed learning by myself in past years. Lesson went long and I didn't even realize it. Super interesting. Good times.

Christian is very interested in your personal goals and he makes sure to ask specific questions to make sure he is helping you achieve them! I’ve only had 3 lessons and have already learned so much. I highly recommend!

Christian is a superb instructor. Although I listed my lesson subject as Guitar, Christian covers all aspects of music training including Ear Training and Music Theory. If you are looking for a professional musician that can teach at a high level, Christian would be a great candidate.

Absolutely blown away by his teaching style and friendliness. Can't wait for future lessons and plan on using him for all my kids lessons as well. Don't hesitate -- this is your guy for lessons.

First lesson was great and looking forward to more.

My son has really enjoyed and benefited from his lessons with Christian. He had no knowledge of the guitar. After a few months, I've seen a huge improvement in his playing ability. I've also noticed his enjoyment for music has increased significantly. The lessons are for an hour but he doesn't hesitate to stay longer if needed. Christian is a wonderful teacher and definitely was the perfect choice for my son.

So I started out with Christian just knowing the basic chords after noodling around for the past few years. I knew I hit a point where I wasn't going to have the freedom to explore until I learned music theory and got the foundations down. I went in wanting to know the basics to be able to go into any genre at some point. Man I was not disappointed. He is supremely patient working with you at whatever level you're at. And you can tell he's truly passionate and cares as a teacher. For example, countless times we go over the 1 hour time window and he never rushes you out. He sticks with you until the lesson feels concluded naturally. Honestly its all you can ever want out of a teacher. Whether learning riffs from a song, or figuring out what key a song is in, or how to apply the scales at every level, he simply has you covered. I am extremely grateful to have been so lucky to have found him. He alone is one of those rare musicians where his ability, technique, and skill in the art form is matched in his ability to teach it.

Just took my first lessons with Christian and I'm pretty excited! He's got a lot of knowledge and knows what he is doing. He also goes at your own pace so there's no pressure or time pressing against understanding and learning the material. I feel like I'm going to be able to learn and grow from his teachings and recommend him to anyone looking. Remember practice makes perfect and I can't wait for my next lesson!

Honestly I couldn't have picked a better teacher. Above all else, Christian really takes the time to help you understand what he's teaching and how to apply it to your own playing. I've been playing guitar for 10 years now and before I started taking lessons from him, I never knew how much I didn't know. Every lesson is fun and engaging and definitely well worth the rate. Bar none.

Christian is a career guitar performer and instructor. He is fluid on the fretboard and the blackboard. Not only is he knowledgeable about technique and composition but his acumen of contemporary guitar history is comprehensive, I can't believe I got so lucky to have chosen Christian first round on TakeLessons by simply reading his bio. He has instilled in me the desire to become a better player and increased my enjoyment of the instrument tenfold. Thanks Christian!
