Upright Bass
- Levels Taught:
- Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
While practicing and self improvement is part of the journey and the joy of becoming a musician, a student shouldn't have to submit themselves to hours of boring repetition that could lead to injury or loss of interest in that instrument.
I aim to create fun, creative challenges which the student must rise to meet in order to improve and succeed. I hope to instill the ability to analyze and tackle problems through smart and efficient programming that can be applied to all aspects of life.
The double bass is one of the most difficult and rewarding instruments to master and I want to pass the skill and knowledge of my craft to other musicians who want to tackle this beast!

- Teaching since:
- June 2006
I am a conservatory trained musician (Manhattan School of Music) and a NASM certified personal trainer. I aim to create exciting, high quality learning experiences with my students and training clients. I aim to not only endow them with valuable information but also the ability to create and solve challenges that will allow them to grow independently both in their study and application of theory.
Regardless of age or skill level, I'll construct an appropriate program, personalized to helping the student tackle the challenge at hand. Ultimately, this is a valuable skill-set that easily transfers to all aspects of life. I encourage students to explore many facets, while maintaining a fun learning environment focusing on progression.

Write a ReviewOne of the most organised bass teachers i'v ever had. Learned the importance of a good practice routine and playing over changes with a lot of focus on good technique.
I learnt a lot of new techniques musically and in terms of performing.
Mr. T helped me overcome my shyness on stage, which I'm so thankful to him for.
All in all, he is an awesome teacher and had loads of fun studying with him (:
I had Chris as my ensemble teacher for 3 months, and he's been one of the best teachers I've had. It was a lot of fun learning with him and everyone had a great time.
Chris Talio has a very systematic approach to teaching and that helped me out a lot personally to upgrade my skills on the Electric and Upright Bass. I've learnt under Chris for 6 months and my bass playing has improved tremendously.
First of all, I thank you for mentoring me for those few classes that I had with you. Your techniques have helped me a lot and you are a really good mentor. Watching you play too, has helped with performance. Also, having a really "chill" mentor/ friend like you just makes it so much fun and comfortable in the whole learning process. It was a great experience for me! Hope to learn much more from you in the future too.
Cheers!
